Unsure what to call this or how to describe it other than it looks like the skin is shedding. Literally no other weird behavior and is eating well. It’s had it for a few months now and nothing has happened. It doesn’t change at all, stays looking like the photos.

thoughts?

When fish show a general "disheveled" look, the common diagnosis is flukes (Gyrodactylus). Do you ever see this fish scratch/flash? Any other fish in the same tank showing issues?

IN addition to Jay's comments - it looks thin, malnourished and sick in general. I agree that there is some additional disease at work - whether flukes or something else. Was it quarantined?

i know you said it hasn’t changed but they can change fairly quickly, mine looked bad for a while but once it settled in the color went back to normal. either way keep an eye on it

No other fish has had issues and I’ve had this fish for five(ish

I’d be shocked if it’s malnourished. I literally watch it eat twice a day like physically see it eating and I give it reef fenzy food.

Also not sayings it’s not possible it’s malnourished just because I see it eat. Sorry if that came across.

Midas blennies have a huge issue with eating well, but getting skinny. Here is a post I made about that:

Wanted to follow up for anyone else who stumbles on this thread. Blenny is completely fine and actually looks a lot better since I started feeding it benepets in addition to the frozen food. Since I already feed my corals this, I noticed it eating it too. I target it fed it once and it went crazy! Since then it’s color has returned to normal and it’s much more active!

Thanks for the call out here Jay!
