The minimum requirement to fully control the LB3 via hotspot, WiFi and cloud is the ProfiLux Light controller which is priced at less than $100.

I just purchased the “sky white”

Question: How many do I need to grow SPS on a 40 Breeder? ( I dont need much width spread as the placement will be directly under the light)

The corals will be on egg crate: (directly under) distance from surface TBD

Also this light will part of a side by side experiment comparing coral growth under 6500 (daylight) vs traditional blue (15k>)

Im thinking about purchasing a 2nd unit for comparison.
Either Coral Pop OR Deep Ocean
Thoughts? Predictions? Suggestions?

Is there a spectral comparison amongst the models somewhere? (Never mind, found it!)

Hi,
thanks for your order. It is not usual to use the Skywhite models for reefs, the Skywhite was designed for fresh water. I don't say it is not possible, but then the our customers usually add one or more of the 3 marine water models (Ocean Blue, Deep Ocean, Coral Pop).
Of course it makes more sense when this has a scientific background and you want to compare the outcome you have with bluish LEDs to the outcome with daylight (or more precise 6500K).
Anyway, this needs to be discussed personally, our sales team will reach out to find the best solution for your application.

Honestly I think this is a great idea and the design looks great.
The Mitras LB3 have an M4 screw channel in the top of the heatsink, over the entire length.

When you use an M4 screw with a thicker head (e.g. pan head) you would have something for this T-slot.

How does one gain access to the M4 Slot? Looks like there are end caps, one needs to be removed?

Finding info has proven to be difficult, I've struggled to even track down hanging kit instructions.

My LB3 was delivered today, I'm attempting to come up with a mounting solution as well.

Hi, please DON'T take anything apart! Not necessary and may even cause damage.

You can just screw any M4 screw into this screw channel at any position.

If you use the hanging kit then screw the supplied bolt with thread into the bottom part of the hanging kit, then screw that into the screw channel.

The screw channel behaves as a normal thread, at any position.

I can now confirm... An M4 screw literally threads right in the center channel in the LB heatsink. Excellent built in feature!

Two solutions, this is one and also the easiest. Use standard L brackets with a M4 screw with a washer the go into the LB3. These brackets were for my cooling fans, I have others on order so excuse the current iteration.

I'm running 15 series, they make a 10-15 transition L bracket, which would probably be my preferred method because it is much lighter weight. They also make longer L brackets if you want to space the M4 screws out further.

The second solution is if you want to get the bar closer to the water surface. Same concept and lots of ways to do it, the easiest is L brackets to the vertical bar and then L brackets to the light fixture. They also have internal L's that hide quite nicely. Or use a T bolt and thread the center hole of the vertical bar if you want to be fancy.

How many bars would i need for a 63x39 tank?

The LB3 160 would be suitable for that length tank. Depending on what kinds of corals you're keeping or plan to keep, 5-6 LB3 would be the sweet spot. If you're aiming for mostly SPS, do 6x LB3.

You can run this setup with only 3 power supplies and can start with 5 LB3. If you wanted to add a 6th LB3, you can do that without having to buy another PSU. Your configuration would like something like this:

I don't mind a hint of it, and like the idea of being able to dial it up or down some depending on what's happening. But the tank is in my home office and I'm on zoom calls all the time!

And what typical mounting height do you suggest? I don't tend to love the look with the lights just a couple of inches from the tank, but not sure how well the light penetrates at given heights.

This aquarium have Mitras Lightbar 2 and 2 pcs of 120 deep Actinic. 1 pcs of 120 Actinic and 1 pcs of 120 Ocean Blue. Size 120 * 50 * 50 cm. No filter - it looks like this IRL. They are placed 10 cm above the surface




I measured PAR 6 years ago - I still have the same lights

I guess that you would have a similar look the following set up with Mitras Bar 3 like this - 1 pcs Coral pop, 2 pcs deep Ocean and 1 pcs Ocean Blue - all type 90
