What is this and does anyone have it? My friend called it dragons breath. It gets such a bright orange in high light.
Also do you know what it consumes? Anything beneficial?

Also what are these? In the same tank, he was told they are fuzzy mushrooms, but I don't believe it.

I had the Macro and It was a PITA, grew like a weed. I believe it may consume some cal but not sure.

I agree with you on the second item. My guess would be some type of Aptasia or Manjano.

Majano is number 2...and number one get it out...that all I have to say...

I had macro photo number 1 a few years ago. I lost my colony when I moved that tank to a friends house while in the process of moving. It died in his care :( I really liked the algae with its bright orange hues. I would gladly take your colony if you want to part with it. I have macro algae only tanks so its no prob for me. Please don't throw it away. PM a kid!

I knew those were bad.... haha

So no one knows much about the macro algae except it grows fast and tangs enjoy it?

Its a type of Halymenia sp. I think there are a few different types of Halymenia floating around the reef sites. The one you have looks to be the same as the one I had. It was also called Dragons Breath and really totally turned bright orange. Its a fantastic piece of algae. It never went sexual on me but I only had it for less than 6 months. It did grow fast for me 8" under my 70w MH 14k.

Here is an old photo of my old Halymenia. You can see how bright the orange is compared to my red bubble macro (which is bright itself). The orange is intense!
