Guppies can survive for months in salt but can’t breed. They will die out eventually. Mollies do better or you can have both.

Has anyone kept a peppermint hogfish (b.sepiacaudus)?



I like the red colour (since I prob can't get flame hawkfish cause I want inverts)

60g tank, live rock, 30g sump with red sea skimmer and roller mat. Mainly softies and LPS for corals. The tank has a cover.

Currently:
Occ clowns
Blue green chromis
Bangaii cardinalfish
Yellow wrasse
Lineatus wrasse
Leopard wrasse (m meleagris)
Trochus and turbo snails

Also interested in:
Australian stripey (like how they look, easy to get here and aiptasia control!)
Firefish
Flasher wrasse eg carpenters, mccoskers
Mandarin dragonet
Dwarf angel - eg pygmy or coral beauty
Royal gramma or Blackcap basslet

What are your thoughts? Would it suit current or some of the future occupants?

Trying to get various colours and levels and peaceful

I know I can't put all of those fish in, but levels are great. Testing every second day and 0 ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.

Any suggestions on which would work best together?

I personally wouldn’t as these are a somewhat aggressive species and generally dislike other similar or more peaceful species.

That tang is way too big and aggressive for a tank that size. Everything else is fine.

if it makes a difference, it is only about 3" at the moment and will go into a 180 gallon within a year?

Current stock list:
3x Yellow Tang (2.5”)
Blue Regal Tang (3”)
Purple Tang (4”)
Melanurus Wrasse (3”)
Typical CUC

Adding 3x Bimac Anthias soon.

Future possible wish list:
2-3 more tangs
Pair of clowns
Yellow Coris wrasse
Maybe small school of chromis

My questions - how many more Tangs can I keep comfortably?

Also, planning (not hard pressed on it) on adding a juvie Naso once the other Tangs grow another couple inches as the last Tang to add (after another 1 or so depending on how much room there still is by this thread’s advice).

A 5’ tank seems big but honestly, 5 tangs is IMO pushing the limit of fish altogether. These are high activity and large fish (I mean, yellows and purples are tea plate size when their fins go up and Regals are long and hyper swimmers). I would keep to 6-7 fish max if you plan to keep those fish.

I would go for a small species of wrasse personally

A Cirrhilabrus isosceles could work as these are shyer fish and generally I’ve found them to be better in smaller tanks than most other Cirrhilabrus species. These guys also only get to around 3” from my experience having them in the LFS. They also don’t swim as much as the other species I’ve kept.

Fish altogether, you have to remember you’ve got some huge tangs in your tank currently who are eventually going to be all over the tank. Leave it at that, don’t add any other fish, if you must add another fish go for a bottom dweller like a Goby but no other hyperactive species in the water column.

Hello everyone!

I recently purchased my first saltwater tank, a 15-gallon AIO cube, which is now fully cycled and I want some suggestions or critiques for my stocking list.

Current Wishlist:
- Hi Fin Banded Goby OR Yasha Goby (whichever one I can get ahold of at my LFS)
- Tailspot Blenny
- Candy Cane Pistol Shrimp
- Blue Tuxedo Urchin
- Potentially some small Hermit Crabs and Snails

Also, since I want at least 1 Ocellaris Clownfish in my tank would it be better to go with a pair of Clownfish, or to go with 1 Clownfish and 1 Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse?

Hello hello! My 13.5 evo has recently become entirely fishless, so I've been considering stocking options. There are also no large shrimp, just my tuxedo urchin, some hermits, snails and micro brittle/harlequin stars. Tank is well-stocked with small but healthy coral colonies.

My current thoughts are:
1x Pink streaked wrasse
1x yasha goby - maybe a pistol shrimp with it.

Two fish feels alright in this tank, and I'm not sure adding more than two would overstock it. Thoughts?

Also any additional considerations for stocking options would be welcome.

Hello, I have a 10’X5’x32” FOWLR aquarium. Working on proper stocking, current plans are coral cat shark and white spotted bamboo shark, miniatus grouper, blue dot grouper and a blue line grouper. I will probably at a yellow headed eel as well. Could I also add a wrasse or two to increase the activity in the aquarium? Also, I am open to other stocking ideas.
