Hi again Jay! I know this is an old thread but just wanted to follow up on this years later as I was looking through my old post just now. So what ended up happening: I had moved them to the 10 gallon that I referenced to you in my most recent post and shortly after moving, the cloudy eye clown wasn’t looking good and died. Funnily enough, back then I was uninformed, stressed and had limited resources, so I had bought API super ich cure…. (I know now this does absolutely nothing for saltwater fish). I had once again let the clown sit in the quarantine tank isolated for about 7 weeks, (I believe I’m not 100% sure as this was so long ago, but I do know I had let well more than a month pass) and while the clown was in QT, I had ended up upgrading to a 90-gallon tank which is the main one I have to this day. Everything was new, including rock, sand and of course water. I let that tank cycle, then put the lonely clown in there. A few months after that, I got a killer deal on two other black storm clowns so I got them both and put them in there with the clown I have now. The tank has been these 3 clowns for about three years now, until the blue came in recently. Anyways, thanks for your help and advice back then and also now! I always appreciate your words when seeing you reply to people as I’ve lurked on R2R throughout the years and feel actually honored to have had your input, not once but twice, along with @vetteguy53081 , to me you guys are legends of the reefing hobby. Thanks!Hi folks, I was at work again today, so just seeing this now.
Rapid breathing and not eating in both fish (if I read things correctly) is going to point to three possible issues:
1) Water quality problems
2) Velvet
3) Brooklynella
I *think* we can rule out acute bacterial infection because the fish are so new. The cloudy eye does help with that diagnosis though.
Your water report seems fine, so unless there is an unknown toxin, that likely is not the problem.
Brook and velvet can be hard to tell apart, and since they have two different treatment, it is imperative that you go in the right direction.
Can you post a short video? I might be able to tell more from that.
Jay
