So I’ve had this clownfish for less than 48 hours now (white one) both are currently in quarantine

Yesterday it wasn’t showing much interest in food, I think I saw her eat a tiny bit of mysis though.

Today she’s taking in food and then spitting it back out.

I couldn’t get it in the video but at one point she swallowed and spat out the same pellet 4 times before the other clownfish just ate it

Can’t open video on my phone but what foods are you feeding?
Best is:
LRS fish frenzy
Spirulina brine shrimp
Mysis shrimp
Small plankton
Small pellets like spectrum or new era

Let me upload the video to Vimeo and while I do I’ll get the name of the pellets.

I will be trying again later tonight to feed mysis, I feed mysis in the night time as I feed the display tank then. These clowns are in quarantine I should have said in the post

Maybe texture issue.
What was he being fed before you got him 48 hours ago?
If your using Meds, this can diminish appetite.

I’m unsure what she was eating the LFS I forgot to ask but I’ve seen them feed some of their tanks with mysis before

No meds at the moment, can’t see any glaring issues with them to treat yet just wanted to get them settled in first

Thank you
The issue with pellets may be - it’s a herbivore version
The formula one is meaty and would have been better

Ah that could be it. Can this diet preference change from clownfish to clownfish? The black and white one seems to eat them just fine.

I’ll try mysis again later and report the findings

Clowns can be finicky and certain foods accepted fish to fish

Cool good to know! I won’t worry too much for now then.

The only problem I have is my mysis is crappy. Bought it from eBay, it’s basically a powder when mixed in water. The shrimp are so small, I’d like some bigger chunks since the one she seemed to go for was the bigger one. All the smaller pieces just get ignored or unseen lol

48 hours is still kinda early I believe every individual fish takes changes differently just like people if it is active, breathing normal and physically appears ok I wouldn't be to concerned yet. You can also try dry foods soaked in garlic sometimes that works for me.

@vetteguy53081

I’m a worryer so I couldn’t wait and went ahead and fed some mysis.

She still spat some back out but I’m going to take these videos as a good sign!

Since I had communication with @Jay Hemdal and @MnFish1 about this issue I’ll tag them to see as well :)

Sorru about all the posts and questions about these clowns I’ve just had a lot of bad luck and I’m paranoid

Looks healthy to me and seems to take interest in the food I see no concerns here. After she gets used to you and her new home she will eat alot more.

Hmmm, I see them devouring it. I also see no aggression during feeding
Try standing back during feeding and see if it changes anything but appears normal

They seem to get on quite well. They do hang around the bottom areas of the tank more than I’d like, they sleep in a corner right at the bottom on a night. I think I’ve got some lazy butt clownfish

My pair I have had for a year stay together at the back corner sometimes the female takes a stroll around the tank but then returns. My female sometimes also comes up to me at feeding time.

I have 4 pairs and they too favor the corners and ever since they started laying eggs, they lost interest in BTA anemones
