Hi guys Im Justin, Im new here to R2R, and the saltwater aquarium game. I currently have a FOWLR tank and was looking to add some corals and go from there before getting nuts deep into it. Ive had my tank setup for about 9 months now with a variety of fish and everything is well. so long story short ive been using a Fluval FX4 since I set the tank up. I recently came across a guy on face book in my area selling a ton of equipment from his 700gallon system. Some of which I was looking to purchase (sump, pumps, heaters, battery backups) but he wouldn't split the lot so I had to buy it all. Now I have so much equipment I have no idea what it is. Currently I dont have a list of what exactly is there but I have coralife RO/DI filters, Kessil lights, half dozen power heads, pumps, dosing pumps, multiple other grow lights with hundreds of $$ worth of spare bulbs.. where should I start by figuring out what I need and what I don't.

Welcome to R2R!! :)

I would start by looking at other peoples tanks and how they run their systems and then decide what may be best for you and your tank.

Thanks! I need to figure out what I can use from this lot and what isn’t needed. It looks like a fish store threw up in my living room rite now. There’s cases and cases of stuff. But I couldn’t turn it down for the price.

If you think there is any chance you are going to stick with the hobby... Keep everything. You'll need it all eventually. Are you Justin Harrignton of the VW/GTI world by any chance?
