I have a 135 and 125 gallon reef tanks. Been in the hobby for years but still learning new things. Some of my corals colors seem not as bright as they could be. Have lots of coral. Have no nitrate and very little to no phosphate. Feed twice a day for fish. Wondering if I am low on trace supplements and/or nitrate and phosphate.

You can add trace elements such as seachem brand

Welcome to R2R!

Do you have the actual numbers for N & P?

Soft corals? LPS? If nutrients really are bottomed out or close to zero that could be an issue for corals and opens you up to other issues as well. Feeding more, more fish if your tank can support it, or directly dosing N & P are also options to raise numbers

Welcome to R2R! This is a great source for anything reef related! The people here are very friendly and always willing to help. You should post a couple pictures of your tanks here, we would love to see them!

Welcome to Reef2Reef!! I’m relatively new and this has been a Godsend for me! I have an lps/softie dominated tank and I know that, in my brief experience, my tank corals are exploding in size with some nitrates and phosphates as part of their environment. The experts here will all tell you that all corals need some nitrate and phosphates but the levels depend on what you have in your tanks. Also, advice I received that has added bright vibrant colors to my corals were to make sure iodine is good, magnesium is around 1400 and to feed coral aminos. I’m sure you’ll get great advice here too!

Welcome to R2R! I'll let others address your question more fully but I will say that you should have measurable nitrate and phosphate or you could be starving the corals. Beyond that, water parameters, flow and light all play a roll in coral health but it could be as simple as your light spectrum not showing off the colors of your coral.

What do you feed your corals?
