Newbie to MH

I've always used t-5's and was thinking of getting used MH 150w. Found a fixture used about 3 years and was wondering how long does the ballast usually last?? Do they weaken over time? Thanks

They last for a long time especially the magnetic ones they run well over 10yrs with no problems...
