Putting together a nem tank. Wanted to put only bio bricks or some type of those bricks. What would you suggest that won’t be harmful to nems. Don’t want it leaching anything with time. Can I just do reborn media. I don’t want anything with huge holes that they can stick their foot in. I want to easily scrape their foot and pull them out. Will the reborn media hold beneficial bacteria and keep the tank running smooth. Only 2 clowns will be in this tank.

If you are talking about bubble tips I would only use rock unless you want nems crawling all over looking for a happy place that doesn't exist. They do similar to what you want to do in the lfs so they don't have to try and removed the nems foot from a rock. The tanks always look pathetic with nems all over the glass never settling in because there is no place for them to settle. JMO

Are they not happy just because they have no rock? If water quality is there then shouldn’t be an issue right? I will be having CSB in there and want them to be easy to remove when trying to sell them. The problem with rock they attach and you fight them things to let go. Whether a powerhead, hanging out the water, ice, and whatever other ways.

I know all about removing nems from rock. I removed 50 from tank once so I get why you don't want to use rock. You didn't mention propagating and selling them so I was looking at it from a hobbiest point of view trying provide a natural type of habitat. I'll let others experienced in what you want to do reply.

OK, so it will be visible, ruling out plastic media. I do not know how well it will work to not release anything, but the various media may be OK.

What about rubble? They could still bury their foot in a pile and feel comfortable but not attach to any large rocks and no worries about leeching.

That might be it either this or reborn media I’m thinking. If I do rubble I need it to be as small as possible because it’ll essentially be the “sand bed”.

Back in the old days the wholesale trades used shallow tanks with ASTRO turf for the bottom cover. It made it easy to remove the anemone but provided some stability for the invert. The water was just deep enough to cover the anemones. Might work with propagating as well
