After taking a break, I’m setting up a new tank! I would like some constructive criticism to make my tank look better :).

I’m fairly happy with the way it looks but I cannot stand the light mount. Also unsure if there is too much rock in the tank

I think I might do a trio of bimacs, a pair of red mandarins, mainly lps and euyphilla. Also a nice maxima lol

just wondered if you were thinking a bunch of fish that needed swimming space. then you might need to take some rock out
Yea that is a good point. I think anthias like to swim. I just don’t know if the tank is even big enough for them with no rock lol

The NYOS 200 is approximately 21x21x20. I dont think that is sufficient space for a trio of Bimacs. They are quite active fish needing plenty of swimming room

For fish what do you think then? I’d assume pretty much any anthias is out of the question. My last tanks were bigger so I was able to keep sunburst anthias, Bartlett, lyretail. I was hoping to keep some purple queen of the bimacs

Tank update, I have plumed in my chiller and uv. Got all my equipment in and organized. Starting on my auto water change (had this on my last tank and it was game changer) and got all my dosers set up.

Next thing is sand and water and we will start the cycle.

I have a 35 gallon water drum in my closet for clean water and a trash can for dirty water. I’m trying to upload pics but it won’t let me

That’s a sweet set up for the water change! How long does that last you? And how often do you need to add salt water and take out the dirty water? Is it close to where you have to dump it out?

I’m an apartment dweller and just moved to another apartment. What I did in my last place was have the new saltwater in the closet and I had the dirty water go right outside lol. My tank isn’t close enough to the patio to do that.

I’m hoping to do like 6 gallons of water a week. So maybe last 5 weeks.

The trash can is a little far from where I need to drain it. I have a little cheap pump and a hose. I’ll pump it straight to the toilet :) lol
