I have a spare PAR30 LED bulb from a decommissioned tank, and I was wondering if I could use it on an upcoming 55 gallon setup? Well, not by itself, a tank that size would probably need two of them. Thinking about dabbling in SPS, a clam would be pretty nifty too. I'm using the same kind of bulb in a pico setup for SPS and it seems to be working like a charm.

Speaking of the tank, it's got weird dimensions for a 55g: 75 x 75 x 35cm.

The LED's specs: 9LEDs (3 white, 3 blue, 3 pink), 9w. Similar to the ABI Tuna Blue that's popular for picos, except with fewer LEDs.

Thoughts?

Numbers I had seen previously are a par38 works decently on 5g pico tanks. For a 55g I'd imagine you'd need 20 of them in a staggered layout.

I would find a different lighting option.

Guess I'll have to try find an alternative then. I also had in mind an Orphek-style LED bar (Houyi brand), the reviews seem to check out, so I'll see how they go.
