I run 2 14k phoenix on m80's on my 120. Pic looks blue but its white in person.
I run a giesemann 150 18k on a m80 on my frag tank and its whiter than the phoenix 14k.

That looks nice . Very spartan and powerful.

Here is a pic I just took of my frag system running the giesemann 18k.
Its alot whiter looking in this pic vs my 14k 120.

I have two of those cayman fixtures over a 90 gallon. 250 watts. I think 250 is over powered . If I had to do over I’d switch to the 150 watts .

8hrs.
I just bought this for my 120 for morning and night viewing.
I will run it for 1hr before and after light come on and 1hr before and after lights go off for 4hrs total I think.
OR3 120 blue plus.
I have not hung it yet but one bar really brings out the colors when halides are off.
The halides over power them when on.

Here's my 50 lagoon with a single 250w Phoenix 14k. First picture is halide only and second picture is with 4 T5's supplementing the halide. Both photos were taken with an iphone 6 without any editing. The first picture is a little brighter than it looks in person but otherwise is pretty accurate. The second picture is less bright than in person and bluer than it really looks. I like both and run the tank both ways during the lighting period.

I've been thinking about bolting one of those onto my Sunpower for some bling, however I've been reluctant as in most of the pictures I've seen of those they look black. I'm happy to see it appears to be more of a silver which would compliment my pendant better.

I use no secondary lighting with my 14k Phoenix. It is a waste of time for me, so I save the wattage. There are unedited photos in my re-build thread of the corals that I started over with. Here is a sample.

No windex, awesome pop with no black-light look.... start here:

Here are some older photos from a year, or more, ago before all of this stuff got to big and I took them out and started over. No supplements, just the 14k Phoenix:

...and softies love them too:

The OR3's are silver.
Like jda said you dont need one for color with the 14k's.
I actually prefer the 14 halide look without suplemental led.
I will take some pics when I get it hung.
From just hanging it over my tank by hand you wont see a difference in color.
When the halides are off certain colors are brighter for sure.
Fox flame and pink floyd are a very bright yellow under them.
I have a friend that runs all blue plus OR3 light bars and they glow.
Just not the look I want all day.
This explains why so many frags, even at the lfs, that run all blue xr30's look different when people put them in their tank under different lighting.

The Phoenix bulb is notoriously blue for its 14,000k rating. The spectral characteristics are remarkably similar to the Radium bulb and the Hamilton 20,000k

Hi BPD - I've been running a Phoenix since I went back to halides (electronic ballast). Finally decided to stick the free Hamilton 20k that came with my kit in there. It's waaaay different than the Phoenix. Dimmer and more of a purple than blue color. You think I got a bunk bulb on the 20k?
