Looks great man! Your pics are really nice too...

I cannot believe what happened to your heater! I've used Stealths for a long, long time now (since they came out actually) and have only had one die on me, but just stopped working nothing close to your experience. Marineland replaced it under their lifetime warranty. This is the second time I've seen someone post about theirs exploding, and both have ben recent and here on R2R too. I would glady pay quadruple the cost of your average heater for one that was repliable and worked!

Thanks man.

The heater market really doesn't make sense to me. You can get a 300w Stealth heater for ~$25 that is rated for 100g tank. The average 100g reef tank probably has $1,000-$2,000 (or maybe $5,000) worth of livestock that we trust to a $25 heater? Kinda silly when we throw $300 at a vortech or $600 into a nice light.

I've been using titanium heaters ever since. The frustrating thing I'm finding with them is they are super weak! I have a 300w one (rated for 80g) in my 65g system set at 82 degrees and my system struggles for 78 during the day and 76 at night.

I'd like to see a high end heater with failsafes that can actually maintain a set temperature with minimal swings.

Several reefers have been (strongly) voicing their opinion on this (me included) for quite a while now at some "high end" companies and we've gotten ELOS to bite at it. Expect something from them to come out at some point this year...

Regardless any heater should be used with an external (redundant) controller, but that obviously doesn't stop them from freaking exploding!!!

Here's my monthly update on the 50g breeder...
One of my chalk basslets went carpet surfing and I added this beauty:

Here are the fts's and some wide shots of the scape and corals growing in. I was pretty happy as this batch matches the look of my Sunpower and bulb combo pretty well.

Well, I can honestly say this has been the best day in a very long time. After 3 months of not hearing a word, I received a check in the mail from Marineland. A full compensation for all losses related to the exploding heater and following system crash.

OMG so many possibilities now...

Thanks a ton to the LFS owners in Rochester for their help persuing the matter.

Thanks Buddah~

The tank is pretty full indeed. I'm having to trim/prune/train some of the SPS to keep away from each other. For now, I'm planning on moving more of the green torches into the bonsai tank. My friend just started a system and loves Euphyllia so I'll give him my frogspawns. Add a couple small pieces of rock to give more access to light and voila, more real estate!

Still trying to convince the woman to let me start another system but that's not looking good atm.

More random pics. Sorry, I get bored when I've done my maintenance and there's nothing to frag.

Updates shot of my 10g bonsai nano. I'm slowly moving in some torches from the display to make room for more sps.
