Yes they will need to be replaced. If the anemones are on a molt, the crab might go and retrieve them.

Another Pom can give that one an anemone and then both will split their 1 to make 2 each. This is reasonably common.

I have read that they can create one from taking a chunk out of a larger anemone, but I don't believe it.

My pom pom came in with none , but now has two. No idea where they came from. I know they are very specific species. Maybe it still had a tiny bit and they grew. Weird.

They're such interesting yet timid little guys. I love the fact that they share anemones with each other.
