Ok I got a bday coming up and although no one has ever supported my "habit" after three years of asking for tank presents I am still going to ask for stuff for my tank lol. I will just end up buying what ever we deem is the best addition to my reef if I dont get it for b-day.
To those of you who dont want to read all the crap below about my specific issues it is between:
1) LED's for supplement
2) MP40 if it can make its own waves if not then another suggestion
3) Doser and switching back to B ionic from BRS
What I got:
Tank - Mixed reef 90g (93 corals everything under the sun hehe) (9 exotic fish)
- only leather I have is tyree which I love b/c it looks like a virus :nerd:
Flow - I have a GenX 40 I think (which ever one runs high head @1200GPH) Not split and only 3 elbows @ 5 ft I think it does ~1000gph
1 Koralia type 3 ~800gph
Light - 2x250 20k Helios and 2 x 54W Giesmann actnic +
Filtration - In this order It goes drain --> filter sock ---> Skimmer (SWC 160 Extreme)---> Carbon ---> Return
Dosing - I drip Kalk and add BRS Calcium, Mag and very minimal alk is needed at the moment I moved my tank from Orlando to Tampa so corals stopped growing but they are coming back strong now its been about 3 months.
My problem is I can improve on all categories (excluding the tank, and filtration) but like most people I dont have that much $$$ to improve all three at once.
What I want:
Light - My lighting is fine however I find I am missing a lot of colors from my corals that others have in the same species. Which is probably due to my blue spectrum and lacking the yellow green spectrum. I already own pheonix's to fix this just waiting till my helios need out. But the main thing I want are LED's at least six sets of Powerbrights
Flow - I know I am about to get it from everyone on here b/c my flow is relatively low for a reef but my LPS couldnt take it when I had another koralia 4 in there. Although my flow is mildly turbulent there are many unidirectional areas. The key seems to be wavemaker = so many benefits, even growth and less crap settling on chalices/montis. I may be mis understood but does the MP40 alone have a wavemaker property or do I need 2? If thats the case I can forget about it lol If one will do then I think that will benefit me A LOT.
Dosing - When I used to use B Ionic I was dumbfounded by the colors I would get. B ionic has a lot of trace elements which I add myself now. I was thinking about switching back to B ionic but thats not my main "goody" I want. I am looking for a peristaltic doser that does 3 lines and is not a point of sale (aquamedic). Coral Corral in Tampa has one on their show that is awesome but I cant remember the name I will have to call.
