For those of you that have your main tank power plugged into an RCD outlet, make sure it's a PASSIVE RCD and not an ACTIVE one.
I recently purchased an Ecotech battery backup and wanted to test it, so I switched off my tanks main plug which is connected to an RCD and my return pump ran as expected. But when I switched it back on the tank didn't start up, I then realised I had to manually reset the RCD in order for the power to be restored to the tank which I did and it started up straight away.
But if I wasn't home and the power went off then came back on, then my tank would only be running on the battery backup until it ran flat, even if the power was restored. So check your RCD's because I'm glad I found this out now as we have holidays planned, and if there was a power outage while we were away it would've been the end of my tank.
