I'm on my second time having a red planet in my tank and sure enough just like the first times looses it's color within a week of putting it in the tank. It is like a pale green color, a lot different from the dark green color with the hints of red on it when I bought it. The polyps are out and it's growing so I know it's healthy and I've been adding iron every other day for the past week to see if it colors up. I've heard of people having problems with ORA corals not holding their color. Anyone have an idea of what could cause this?

I've tried a nice piece before and it stayed deep red. I kept it low in the DT as I had been told when it's lower, it usuallly holds the red. For some unknown reason, 1 day it RTN'd! All was lost. Now I'm trying a red city and hope this 1 does decent. I'll soon be getting another Red Planet. If possible, could you lower it in the DT?

Mine went from deep red, to green, to red and green, and stayed that way. It had some nice growth recently. It all depends on where you put it.

They like lower lighting from my experience.

This is what it looked like when I bought it ... for $100 the week they got released by ORA.

This is what it looked like a few months later after it grew in my tank.

I haven't moved mine in a while and it changes color depending on which way the wind blows. It's been deep red, light red, red with green base. red with white base you name it. It's an encrusting machine and refuses to grow upwards for me.

That is actually one of my favorites! Mine is at an angle, so the top nearest the light is deep red and the bottom is green. I have AI SOL LEDS and the Red Planet is right on top.

I actually have moved it lower in the tank about lower mid under direct light. I had it high up top under direct light hoping it would turn red with no success. It actually looks like Ace25's first picture, almost the exact same coloration. I guess I'll just leave it where I have it and see what happens.

Mine was a green under my previous lights. I recently upgraded lights and it has gotten more red.

Previous par 120-150

Current par 250+

My piece likes me light :)

from my experience it gets more green in it farther away from light. I have a colony on my overflow that is all red with very little green in it. I have another piece growing on my rock stack that has the green in it but it is about 8 in. up from the bottom of the tank. Just my experience...
