When I came home from this weekend the light was off extremely dimmed. Which is unusual I check the power supply and the main block was hissing. I purchased a new one as I have had to do this multiple times. After plugging in the light the power supply light turned right on but the connection light did not.

I’ve done a hard reset ( holding the button for 15 seconds )

Done the instructions for reconnection on the app but the connection light will not blink.

Deleted the app and registered to a new account

Unplugged the power supply many times and still no blinking light

Please let me know what I can do to reconnect this light as I don’t know how long my corals can live on the 20 dollar Amazon one! Thank you.

( The light didn’t have power for one day.)

I don't know anything about redsea reef lights, but what I do know is that they have a reputation amongst the reefing community for being unreliable, and nowhere near as good of quality in terms of effectiveness in coral growth as brands such as AI Prime. Your issue probably is something that can be fixed, but I'm no hardware expert so I'll let someone else help you on that. Good luck. :)

If it’s something with a hardware issue I’m throwing it out! This light has been a living hell and constantly disconnects. Would you have any affordable recommendations for a new light? I just hope I can fix this one until I can get a new light.

Well...when it comes to lights, there's no such thing as "affordable". I used to use this $80 Fluval sea light, but it did no good. AI Prime aquaillumination is what I have heard best from, and it is expensive, but with good reason as the point of a quality light with 16 colors, is specially made to mimic the sun, being the foundation of all life on earth, which is hard to imitate. I don't think I've seen any successful saltwater tank without either an AI prime, or a custom made light. The typical price for ai prime is 246 USD, but if you buy used, you can get some from 100 to 150 USD like I did. But make sure you read the descriptions and sellar info carefully.

I have red sea 90 lamps, and from what I can tell from the router that connected them, they have very old 2.4 ghz wireless chips. If you power brick had a surge, it probably fried the chip on the board. They have also used different chips in the same lot purchase, which might explain some 'known' connectivity issues. If you want me to sell you one of my Red Sea lamps, I would be open to it. Better in your hands than e-waste. I wouldn't blame you if you haven't already made the decision to redo the lighting in your tank. I would also advise not to purchase red sea lights in the future.

“For posterity I found a different way to do a hard reset on this forum. Hold down the settings button and unplug and plug in the unit 3 times. Still had massive troubles getting it connected but after another 2 hours of fiddling with it it magically connected. I still get connection errors but am at least able to turn the lights on”

From this thread.

Red Sea 90

To re-cap.

With the light plugged in hold down the setting button. Keep the button pressed and unplug and plug the power cord 3 times (try 4 times if that doesn’t work)

There is a connection point close to the light you can use to unplug / plug if you don’t have someone to help you.

I had this light and every time the power blinked the light lost wifi connection. And of course the only way to make this light work is if it is connected to wifi. No bypass to emergency button to just make it work.

I ditched my RedSea ReefLED 90 and use the AI Blade now. It works much better.

Good luck with your light I hope this works for you.

~Update~

After trying to reset the light, I lost hope and decided to get an Ai prime light. Haven’t gotten a full chance to set it up but glad there’s manual modes! Thank you for all your help.

You’ve never seen a successful tank with radions? This surprises me they are market leaders and produce very good quality lights (among other things) which are apparent in many a tank worldwide.

I am not here to back up ref sea, in fact I am having the same problem. I have been a radon guy my whole reefing life and I got this rs led with the Max nano and boy…have I ever had such a bad time with any gadget. Worst. Product. Ever. No better luck with the gyre either.
That being said…whilst you’re correct that there is no bypass button…there is a way to use the light without the WiFi connection…you can set the aquarium to ‘offline’ which enables you to connect devices in an equally ‘offline’ state and thus connect to them directly (via their WiFi hotspot they create). This is far from ideal but it is a way around connecting to them which I am battling with.
Mobius…just works. Always has since i first started with it when they switched over. Wasn’t the best system prior to that but now it’s all gravy.

Here’s my super tiny aquarium from many years ago…probably 7 years now maybe more. This was up for a while - I’d say 3-4yrs before we moved house and I traded up! Was 20 gal I believe so 76L ish (nuvo 20 fusion).
Best picture I have tbh. I need to get better at taking pictires of my tanks. Never was good at that. This was with one single 30W pro radion over the top which is the most overkill thing you can imagine. Was set to about 12%. Mixed reef.
I’d like to think you could call that successful. :)
So there’s you’re first non custom, non AI P reef tank that is successful haha!

So it seems this issue is more and more common with these lights... I have been unfortunate enough to own this light and it has been my very first light I had the displeasure of dealing with on my very first reef tank. I have done in depth investigation of this issue and I spoke with red sea customer service. The wifi module on the board is a very cheap component that doesn't deal well with power surges or electrical brown outs AFAIK and it can cause damage to the component. Replacing the board with this part number (R35172) might be able to fix your issue if it is related to connectivity if no other solution works. I sadly do not want to spend any money on this hobby since I am a poor college student, and before I noticed the malfunctions on the light, they slowly killed all of my corals, so it seems that my journey with saltwater aquariums ends here for now thanks to Red Sea going cheap on an essential component for a lamp that used to cost almost $400... If you decide to go with replacing the board, let me know how that goes please. Best of luck!
