What size would you suggest for a 6 ft sps dominant tank?
the 63” would be perfect. The width of the tank and optics would play into how wide the fixture can cover.

I still love these fixtures. Planning on getting 4 more fixtures shortly for another 8x4 tank.

Joined the club! It’s really hard to say goodbye to my halides! I don’t even know that I will haha! I might run them down the center like @SpSDrew did! I’m gonna give these a chance to shine before I decide to or not!

Sweet setup! What is your initial impression on how your coral look under the Reef Breeders spectrum?

No need to get the edge lights as well?

It depends on the width of the tank and how packed the tank is for shadowing. It would be able to cover a 72”x24” area without a problem. Can always add edge bars down the road if needed.

That’s the exact size so sounds much better than the three XR30 that I have…

Cheaper option as well! Bulk reef supply even has 15x rewards points right now on the light. So $250 back in point to spend later

I’m going to see if I can sell the XR30 and switch to the meridians and make money in the process :)

I have the photon so this is the matching lumenbar. With the new edge bars that came out, all the lumenbars are now 50% off and they are still good bars
Saw the sale and am thinking of pulling the trigger on the v2 lumen bar thay is on sale. Do you know if these attach to the meridians as well as the photons V2 or only the photon V2?

I believe they can attach to the mount points but would need @Reef Breeders to confirm

Thank you for the heads up! I was debating getting the 63 light but always use the BRS app. On the app it does not announce the 15x points although it does show how many points you get back on the product page.

The website had it announced on the banner up top and a product line up of all 15x products.

I would have missed it. Thanks for posting! I just ordered the light and am excited to recieve it!

I don’t even know how to play with them yet lol.. I just loaded up battle corals schedule and running that for now.. when I have more time and aren’t so hung over I’ll play with them! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
I love the schedule sharing too! I'm getting into "Bolus", I wonder if there's a grow-out contest for schedules haha. Or overall mixtures, like car paint!

Totally different than halides that’s for sure! Haha.. these are pretty blue so I gotta get used to them or throw some white bars on there.. I’ll give them time and see if my eyes adjust

What are your settings?
Have you taken any par readings?

Running the battle corals program.. I haven’t done par readings yet, I'm gonna try and play with that today.. they’ve only been on my tank for like 16 hours of right now! I was to hung over to play with them yesterday and didn’t even plan on getting them mounted but I did haha!

They can be attached but personally I highly recommend going with edge bars if you’re pairing it with a Meridian. I know it’s more expensive but I guarantee that you will be happier with it in the long run.

I appreciate the manufacturer’s responsiveness in this thread. I recently installed an Edge 63. I’m very happy with the hardware, build quality and design. I look forward to being able to use the app when it’s updated. Haven’t been able to get it working in the original release.

I use this as a supplemental light. I have a 6 ft SPS dominant tank with 30” depth so getting light deep into the tank is important. My primary light source is two Aquatic Life T5 hybrids with two Kessil A500s and three a360xes. Lots of light but I found I still wanted the additional fluorescence of a high output blue LED so I added the Edge 63 in the UV/blue spectrum. Even with all the other lights on at mid-day, I still see a noticeable difference in coral color with the edge on. That surprised me. I thought it would make a difference in the morning and evening as my primary lights are ramping but was pleasantly surprised to see it put out enough UV to cut through mid-day PAR levels that exceed 600 at the top of my tank.

One thing I’d like to see is an accessory that enables hanging this on a tilt. RB makes one for users who mount the Edge on an existing Meridian fixture but not when using the edge alone. I mounted mine behind the primary T5 hybrid suspended from above, and liked the blue enough that I wanted to tilt it forward to illuminate more directly on the corals. I rigged up a diy hack using cable ties to pull one of the cable management clips on the front rail toward the top of the suspension kit. Does the trick but it would be nice to have a manufacturer accessory that does this.

I love my photon 48v2 and had a talk with Logan and this line really has me thinking

“There isn’t one thing the photon does better than a Meridian”

Season 5 Wow GIF by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
There is one thing.
I saw Logan Saturday and had a short talk before our show. He demonstrated the maridian edges for me.
The Meridian edges are made by the same Manufacturer unlike the previous generation, the lumibars. Those were a different manufacturer all together.
The maridian edges are also fully adjustable just like there counterparts.

Just had to point that out! ;)

I'm seriously thinking about using the edges with my v2's.

ok so the edges are made by same manufacturer as the Meridian ? And are compatible with photons ?

And the lumenbars were made by a different manufacturer than the photon. This makes sense because my 48” lumenbar is about 2” bigger than the photon48

As far as the app goes you probably need new hardware, can you reach out to our customer service portal and I’ll get that process started?

as far as enabling tilt with edge bars you can connect the articulating mounts edge to edge so I think you should be able to achieve your goal this way. I’ll definitely see what I can do to help you in that regard.

The Meridian is made at the same factory the Photon is made. The lumenbars are made at a different factory and are not built to the same level that the Meridians or photons are.

Edge bars are made at the same factory as Meridians.
