This is probably a tank that won't draw much interest, but what the heck.

IMG_8827_zpsguyqktar.jpg

Size: Currently 20 gallons, but this will all go into a larger version of this soon, into a 100 gallon cubish tank. I couldn't wait for the build to finish before collecting and keeping fish...my dream tank, a Chesapeake Bay Biotope Oyster Reef aquarium. The completed system will also have a 40 gallon sump, for a total volume of 140 gallons. The 20 gallon tank will be another type of Bay biotope, probably sticklebacks. All of the fish and invertebrates in the tank are caught locally.

Date Started: I've been working on various aspects of this build since 2007, but the first up and running version began in March 2018.

Here is a link to my build thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/chesapeake-bay-oyster-reef-biotope-tank.303105/

The thread is full of pics and videos for those that are interested.

Dude. Nobody interested? This is probably one of the coolest builds I've ever seen. SUPER cool! I love the natural biotope style aquariums. They're big in freshwater but never seen many in SW. One of my dream tanks is a Mangrove/Lagoon biotope. Does it have any fish in it? Or just oysters? Live oysters?

When your tank looks great but you don't want to post pics because of the ugly algae on your sandbed, maybe next time

You need a build thread to be considered for the Reef Tank 365. If you don't have one, start one in member's tank forum ;);)

Nice tank :)

Hello Reef2Reef'ers!

Let me preface this post by saying that your tank doesn't have to be packed full of mature sps coral colonies and have the best gear to be included. But we will need a decent photo. :)

We want to start a new series of threads where we feature a Reef Tank from one of our members. It will be a simple bit of info and photo of your tank with link to your build thread. If you're interested then please share a full or partial tank shot that you're proud of and the following data.

  • Full or Partial Photo
  • Tank Size
  • Date Started
  • Link to R2R build thread

And that's it!

If we use your tank then your tank will receive recognition and you will receive a spiffy new "Reef Tank 365" badge under your name!
