Is the refugium before skimmer a must? What is the reasoning behind it?

Only part i dont like about it is when micro bubbles come out of the skimmer and make it into the display

My sump has 3 sections. I have skimmer, THEN fuge, then rock rubble and return plumbing. I don't think order matters much

Refugiums are usually in the center chambers, so that skimmer or return pumps don't suck up macro algae.

I believe putting the skimmer before the fuge works better to allow the skimmer to have access to the dirtiest water possible.

Fuge before skimmer is to allow the macro the chance to takeup the nutrients before they are removed forever by the skimmer. This works in conjunction with the lack of filter socks.

I don't know if I consider anything with Triton to be a "requirement" but every little detail adds up to the bigger picture. Having a larger fuge is probably more important then where it is placed in the sump. My skimmer is in the middle chamber and I have never had micro bubble issues.
