Removing Pocillopora Spawns from Liferock

hey Folks, my Rainbow Poci spawned a while back. While i Enjoy the little frags growing on my Backwall, theres a few that are gonna cause issues to my other corals. In the past i used coral Glue to cover the polyps but its not nice looking and often hard to do. Is there a better way? Also should i be worried of the other pocilloporas spawning again expenentially(how big do they have to be to spawn?)

Ive heard of people not keeping pocilloporas for that reason. Should i just sell all of it? Im honestly not that bond to it. Besides spawning it didnt grow much yet.

Pocilopora is one of the few corals we keep that can successfully reproduce by polyp expulsion. Single polyp can land and create a new colony. Other corals do the same but the polyp rarely if ever makes a new coral.
A single frag is large enough to make a new one.

Another option is concentrated kalkwasser in a syringe. Just have to be careful you dont hit the coral you are protecting.

Both sudden alkalinity shift and suddenly weeks later poci babies.

Doing well, says hey lets make babies.

These are the second most common reef building corals for a reason. Even with such fewer species than acropora.

If it is spawning in your system you will eventually have garden of them. Cut them down as close to the base as you can with pumps off as when you cut they release more spawn. Once encrusted to your rock it will recover and start growing again, quite amazing. If you can, epoxy a frag on the freshly chopped spot, if not, try and scrape off what's left or enjoy watching it recover.

I'd use bone cutters just like dragging any sps and then glue over any that remains. Like the other posters said, polyp bailout is usually from a swing in conditions... keeping things as steady as possible should help but will probably always get a few here and there

Cutting them off with bone cutters should work. You will have to do it many times.

The colony will not stop. You will be doing this again and again.
