I'm going to be building a basement sump with a cpr hob overflow... My question is, for the return side, what fittings/hardware gets you over the top of the tank? Was going to return with 1in or 1.25in PVC. But then what? Do I use double 90s to make a "u" pipe? I saw some "u" pipes on Google and they look to be 3/4. No I'm not drilling my tempered glass tank. Thank you!

Return plumbing over the back is double 90s, yes. Drill an 1/8" hole or 2 in the piping just above where the "return pump off" water level is or use nozzles with an a siphon break incorporated into it that breaks before the overflow stops draining.

Breaking the siphon higher than the bottom of the overflow weirs is what keeps the tank from draining below the overflow weirs.

Yes I think that all makes sense. I'll probably ask the question again when I go to actually put it all together and get ready to hit the switch lol. Thank you! Also, good luck with Mariner of the month!! This is exactly why I voted for ya!

This is what I came up with for my 125g setup. The return splits into two outlets right at the tank. The advantage of this design is the pair sit flat on the tank rim even though the pipe coming from the return pump is vinyl. I used 1” pipe then had 45 elbows with 3/4” Pipe thread adapters before they transitioned to Locline fittings. I adjusted the nozzles to have one “corner” just slightly above the water surface so they pulled air as soon as power went off. Duel outlets pulling air ensured a quick siphon break with no small hole to try and maintain.

Thank you for the pictures and description! I may do something like that too. Come up with 1in and then branch into 2) 3/4 lines. Greatly appreciate it! I guess my main concern is head pressure. I'm traveling roughly 11' vertical not counting any 90s or tee. Bought and going to be using Sicce sdc7.0
