So I am in the process of planning RODI control. I want to use Hydros to control all aspects of Rodi. I'm just not sure if possible and the parts needed to build it. So the plan is:
A solenoid before rodi system to control flow to the system. I have sediment filter on incoming water line to house.
A pressure valve to control booster pump that opened when pressure releases.
2 float valves preferably sense ports controlled in water containers.
2 more solenoids to close each containers line when full.

Is this possible? Pretty much looking to completely automat Rodi system. Turn on from hydros app and shut off when containers full and shutting whole system down. Without going down and shutting off water to unit

I control my RODI with my Hydros. It autofills my DI reservoir when it goes low. It will transfer the contents of the mixing tank to my fresh saltwater reservoir when it goes low and the contents in the mix tank is ready to use. Then it auto fills the mix tank with RODI. All I need to do is add the salt mix and press a button when it is ready for use. I first set it up before the RODI filter type output was in the Hydros, but I did switch to it. I have info about doing this in my build thread. It starts on page 7 post # 128. Just click on My Tank Thread banner in my post to get to the build thread.

Ok ibhave read a bit through your post on programing the hydros. So my question is what all equipment are you using to do it all?
1st what solenoids do you use and how do they connect to the hydros.
2nd do you use a booster pump. If so what pressure switch do you use to shut off the booster pump?
I think i can get the rest reading your post. I am thinking i need 3 solenoids. 1 for incoming water, 1 for each mixing container to shut off when full.
Next what sensors do you use to stop the filling in the containers. I am calling Buckeye hydro today. Can you tell me the technical name for how sense and drive ports connect. What type of wiring so when I talk to buckete hydro I can have info to tell them how everything connects to the hydros if that makes sense.

I use the Hydros solenoids now that connect to drive ports. I have converted most of the solenoids to Hydros. I was using a different one with my old controllers before the Hydros to do this. They were also 12v and only required I add a drive port connector to the solenoid to use them. I do have float valves on the tubing from the RODI to the DI reservoir and mix tank to shutoff the output from the RODI if it ever gets high enough to trigger them. I also have a maximum on time set on the RODI outputs also so it will shut off the output and send an alert if that is exceeded. I do not have a booster pump but do now use a flush valve solenoid on the RODI that is controlled by the output that powers the solenoid to the input of the RODI. I also added manual valves in the tubing in series with the solenoids so I can manually shut them off if I ever need to do that. There is also a leak detector at the reservoirs and RODI unit so if a leak is detected it will shut off all pumps and solenoids in that area.

I wasn't sure if hydros solenoids would work being on the mainline to system. So that great news. You basically answered my questions and I now have some step by step in programing. Next month I plan to automate the rodi system setup the launch controller and then work towards awc. I might use reefbreeders wireless 4 doser that's 150$ right now for awc

It emailed me a response from you. I'm assuming you realized what I was asking if not to shut the supply water off I don't continually produce waste water. Somewhere in the line you need a solenoid to stop water so it doesn't make waste water and not have the whole system full of pressure.

I never shut off the water to my rodi system and it doesn't continue to run. Your system sounds extremely complicated but I figured you had a plan and my post was not going to contribute anything so I deleted it.

How do you get it to stop producing waste water if the water is running to the unit at all times?

The system I have has a pressure valve that shuts off when the drinking water tank is full and opens when pressure drops they must be made by someone. Wont float valves shut off the water when your containers are full?

Mine has never continued to run I assume it must have a valve like @Frenemies mentioned but TBH I'm not sure i just have never had to turn off the water. I just have float valves on my containers. I do run a smart buddie booster pump but I never had to shut the water off prior installing that. I have a tee before my di and supply my fridge and a faucet at the sink also.

Yes you both probably have this. So once pressure builds it shuts down the unit.
I need this switch to shut off booster pump once float valves shut down the containers
And I'll use the hydros solenoid before each container and main water to shut water off when the switches trigger.

Most of the RODI unit have an ASOV valve installed that does this but I had one of the filter canisters start leaking a week after I changed the media so that is why I have a solenoid on the input also. That way if it does leak when running it can be shut off.

I use solenoids from here. They are cheap and with a WIFI bar they are easy to operate. Don't need to eat up a bunch of ports with them.

I don't use a wifi outlet for anything critical so I would not use it to turn on and off the RODI unit since if there is a communication loss between the wifi strip and the controller it will remain in whatever stat it is in when it happens. If it was on it would stay on even if communication is lost for hours. I am not willing to take that risk when filling containers with water.

Meh. I have floats as backups. But I’ve not once lost communication with my WiFi bars and I have 4 of them.

Thanks that's helpful also. I'm thinking with the launch I should be able to control life lines. So filling ports isn't a big deal. Hopefully I can get rodi, auto top off so if I fill ports I'm good. I would do another version but the salinity probe is a plus. And x10 has few ports for equipment.

You can get more than one controller and create a collective when you need more ports using command bus cables and terminators. The controllers in a collective share their info with the other controllers in the collective so it is like one large controller. I currently have 14 controllers in my collective.

If there was not a cut in the seal you might want to try a silicone based lubricant, they sell " valve grease " for use in the plumbing industry as well. I have nevr had a problem. I wonder if you can buy new seals. I know even petroleum jelly works as I used to do underwater photography but was worried about contamination

It only happened that one time and I have not had an issue since but I did replace the o-rings for the canisters. It has been a few years since that happened but is one reason I do have the solenoid on the input to the RODI as well as the 2 on the output.
