looks like 1.025, if so and you calibrated the refractometer you are fine. I like to shoot for 1.026 personally.

Cool.. next question. I've had this tank since christmas st up with the overflow under water. Some say I should cut the pipe so the water can flow in freely. Thoughts?

Not much difference but you do get the force of the water in the sump creating a little back pressure, cutting a 45-degree at the end of the pipe mitigates that somewhat and help it flow better.
