You also don’t really need a union on the end because the part that connects to the tank is a union on its own

The only reason to put a union on the end is if you plan on changing the manifold

Its very nice

Personally i would not put a gate valve on the end of the return line it would add unneeded pressure on the whole line

My recommendation would be get a controllable dc pump
If you really want to use a gate valve use it as close to the pump as possible so pump, gate valve, union, etc...

I understand putting a flow monitor on your emergency line is there any way you can put it vertically and not protrude out so much i feel like it’s going to get in the way

The reason for the gate valve on the line is because I want to use the T for water changes so I will close that when doing a water change. I am getting a Apex Cor20 for this build.

As far as the flow monitor goes unfortunately vertically there is no room for it.

Anybody looking to sell your fishtank? Maybe upgrading? I'm looking to buy a Red Sea Reefer 450 used to save some money, but get a bigger tank than I currently have.

I was starting to despise my marineland 150 so i decided to upgrade to the Red Sea Reefer 350. I'm supposed to pick it up tomorrow but want to make sure i'll have everything I need to get it set up this weekend. I have been reading @Broadfield build thread and wondered if they ever updated this part to make it easier to hard plumb the 350. " the Red Sea, you would need a metric MPT x standard SLIP. I have scoured the internet and cannot find anyone that makes the piece we need. So you just need load up the 3/4" MPT adapter with about 15 wraps of Teflon tape and call it a day!" Did they ever make this part or do I need the 3/4 mpt adapter to hardline the plumbing?

Hi all. I’ve just taken delivery of my reefer 350 after deciding on the switch from tropical to marine.
I’ll have plenty of questions but the first is around the sump. On unboxing it seems a different layout from the build threads/videos I've watched.
Have Red Sea changed the design?

That is def a new design mine looks like this..
I’m a little confused how they are running the drain lines now it looks almost reversed from mine.. not sure I like it that much looks like they have a good bit of wasted space for the return pump sacrificing skimmer chamber.. also dosent look like a whole lot of room for for larger heaters..?

Thanks. It’s certainly made me rethink my plumbing. Here is the layout of the drain lines.

Anyone have a skimmer they would recommend for a Red Sea Reefer 350, considering Nyos or maybe Reef Octopus.

Wow that certainly is different. I just ordered a 425XL so wondering if I should expect the same/similar layout. There have been reports of new sumps outside of the US already but I haven't seen any detail like you just posted...where do you live?

Also, I'm a bit confused by the diagram with regard to the position of the ATO reservoir. Does it sit over next to the plumbing? If so, does it completely block any way of running a manifold off the return pump?

I’m in Scotland so maybe they haven’t hit the US yet. Here is a pic with the ATO on top. I’m thinking it might be slightly larger than the last version?
