I just recently set up a 30 gallon frag tank 36” x 18” x 10” that’s plumbed into my main system and I bought a used aqua illumination 30” blade glow bar to put over it, but I’m not sure how to set the spectrum for the lighting.

I borrowed an apogee PAR meter from a friend to test the intensity before I put anything in. The light is about a foot over the tank and I used the easy set up option on the app to just quickly set the levels. I have the violet, royal, and blue all set at 100% and I’m getting a PAR reading ranging from 70-120 depending on where you are in the tank.

Is it fine to have these levels all at the same intensity if I’m getting the PAR I want or should I be changing the intensity on each to be different? Do I need to play around with the extra color options they have also or are these three fine?

Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

So with a Blade Glow with all channels set to max is giving a spectrum like this:

That's actually a fine spectrum for growing coral, especially in a frag tank where you don't need white light to highlight fish colors, etc.

70-120 PAR is fine for growing softies and LPS, but you'll need more if you want to grow SPS in there. You could either lower the light or add another (Grow or Glow) to get SPS level lighting.

I’m only planning on growing LPS and softies which is why I just kept increasing the intensity of each one until I saw the PAR readings I was looking for. I just wasn’t sure if certain categories of light should be higher than others or not. Do you know if they have a pre set spectrum on their app that I can just adjust the intensity for? I haven’t been able to find one yet.

Think you just download spectrums .

Not sure there are any blade glow specific ones though .
There's only 3 channels and all more similar than different ;)
Those channels are listed as UV (not UV), Violet, and Royal. Those three channels control 405, 415, 430, and 448nm diodes
