Hey guys I got a Steve's LEDs with bluefish controller second hand already installed in a red sea max 250 hood. Works great so far. My question is when I go to the app to adjust blues only with zero whites one led bank turns blues on the other keeps whites on even tho they are set to zero. I figure it's user error but does anyone have any insight

This is what's happening when I set white to 0 and blue to 65

What happens when blues are at 0, do the whites still stay on?
No, but I can get the blues to only be on if I go into custom and set a custom level. They work then, but outside of that the whites just keep coming on. Like when I chose photo mode and set the lights to only blue the whites come on like in that picture

I can only get just blues if I go into custom and create it in there. This is what it looks like. This is what I'm trying to get picture mode to look like.

Oh I see, scrap my last idea as it's not a hardware issue then. I'm not familiar with the bluefish software so can't help there.

Photomode defnitely would include whites. Are you sure it's customizable and is there somewhere you are supposed to save it perhaps to have your changes take effect?

You go into settings and adjust the slider then hit back then when you go to the photo scene you are supposed to hit that and it should go to your settings. But even in the settings when I hit preview it's turning the whites on.

Photo mode should be mostly whites, as most sensors struggle with bright blue light. And even if all you're using is whites, your photos will still end up with a blue tint. Just not as drastic.

Accurately photographing reef tanks and their inhabitants is not an easy skill to master.

When I manually set the blues I can get some pretty awesome pics.

So does that software allow you to save your own custom preset?
Yea but even when I do that photo mode still forces the whites. Only way I can get just blue is by setting an entire custom preset over riding the normal daily one
