Tailspot Blenny Ailment

Hello all,

I have a Tailspot Blenny named Biscuit that’s looking a little worse for wear. I just noticed it tonight and am looking for any input on possible causes.









It looks like some area of his head has a possible injury? Or sign of some ailment, his stomach is also showing signs of almost lines or ridges inside (that’s the best I can think to describe it).

Any help would be great! I’m new to saltwater fish but not fish in general, but I’m used to looking for freshwater illnesses and such.

Can’t provide any help, but that little guy looks terribly skinny.

Adding to say that he’s eating normally and is as active as usual. His diet consists of algae and frozen mysis, brine, and sometimes pellets.

His only other tank mates are a Banggai Cardinalfish and some hermit crab and snail cuc.

Totally agree, it came on quick, he looked completely normal yesterday.

This fish is awfully thin and appears to have a bacterial issue. Will need treatment in a separate tank using seachem neoplex.
Is fish eating at all and what foods are you offering it?

That was my initial thought as well, he is eating normally, I typically offer frozen mysis shrimp, frozen brine shrimp (both normal and spirulina), and new life spectrum pellets.

In fact, he just ate a full meal of frozen mysis about an hour ago.

These blennies getting thin despite eating well is something that is seen pretty often. Once the fish has used muscle mass for energy, it begins working on the liver. That in turn causes widespread issues in the fish’s appearance.
