Hi all.

I had noticed a few white dotes on my tang days before I left for vacation, I had tried to catch him to isolate but with no luck.

came home last night and he is in bad shape. I was able to catch him though and move to a smaller tank.

I gave him a methal blue dip

I have on hand.

Kordon “rid ich plus”
Seachem Kanaplex
Seachem Metroplex

what do you think he has and what should I do.

also what kind of tang is this one I forget.

cheers

Looks like ich as well as some other infection. I would quarantine in cuprimine or frtiz copper. He’s not looking great.

Hello, this is a powder brown tang. Last couple pictures definitely looks like ich. Do you currently have other tangs in tank? Reason I ask is some of the other spots can be from the aggressive tail swiping.

No other tangs just clown fish.

picture with the hammer coral in it is from a week ago.

his fins seam like something has been picking on him.
before Last week he was so fast and no one seamed to care about him anyways.

These are mucus plugs known as mucus cones. Treatment here can be a little tricky. Surgeonfish and some angels acquire this which develops from a form of skin irritation. They are more noticeable on fish that are dark.
At times, these are also bacterial and Not ich and noted is fin rot in pics. best treatment is Hyposalinity running tank at 1.009. As an option, you can add seachem kanaplex but see if hypo takes effect on them. I'll have Jay chime in to confirm

Could be a mixed infection of ich and flukes, but it is likely just an advanced case of ich. Treatment isn’t going to be possible in that tank with invertebrates present - your two best options would be coppersafe or hyposalinity, either one, in a treatment tank.
There are other fish in the tank? Any spots on them? Once ich gets cranked up in a display like this, it usually spreads to the other fish.

Tang didn’t make it.

not sure if he was too far gone or just from switching tanks (I did t do the best drip)

now one of my clownfish has this white haze.

Here’s what’s in my tank:
1 diamond goby
1 six line wrasse
1 Royal gramma
1 cleaner shrimp
Like 12+ assorted snails
Maybe a tiger postal shrimp too but I haven’t seen him in a month

then a bunch of hammer corals and Zoes.

I have had my clownfish (these 2 actually) get over ick on there own before over a year or so ago.
the other fish are newer.

only the one female clown is showing signs of ick or whatever this is.

see some pic
Thanks all
Should I tank out all the fish?

I think you are going to need to move the clowns out and treat, but more likely, need to move all the fish out. Then, you’ll need to decide to treat with copper or hyposalinity.

Ok Jay / etc
I moved the clowns out and my Diamond goby.

only fish left is a 6 line wrasse (I can’t catch him and also he shows no signs of ick or anything wrong with him.

so just that 1 fish and then 12+ assorted snails
Cleaner shrimp
Pistol shrimp
And ALL my coral.

what’s my next move will this tank just have ick forever now?

the 1 clown seams like he only has a mild case of ick and the goby shows no signs.

after say 3 weeks do I just move them back?

cheers

Trouble is, the wrasse being in the tank can continue a low level infection, making the clowns get sick again if you return them to the tank. The rule for running a tank fallow is move all the fish out for 45 to 60 days depending on your risk tolerance and the water temperature (warmer water = less fallow time).
What are you going to treat the clowns with?

Sorry works been a bit crazy.

i have done a few hyposalinity dips for like 5mins

how am I suppose to do hyposalinity? Do I bring the whole small tank down to 1.08 and leave it there ?

FW dips won't help much, since when you move the fish back to the tank, they just get reinfected. Hyposalinity must be done in a tank with just the fish in it, no invertebrates.

Given the length of time here, it would be helpful to see some updated pictures/videos of the fish though.

Here is a post I made about performing hyposalinity for flukes/ich:

Sorry for my slow reply but here’s the update.

I moved all the fish to a like 50 gallon garbage pail 3 days ago. (Tues night), I pulled a small filter/power head thing from another tank I was thinking for flow and maybe to help a bit with the ammonia levels.
I took water from other tanks to fill this setup and Since then I have done some water changes and added RO water etc etc.

reading are now
1.010 -1.009
Ammonia 0.0
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0

I did have a small ammonia jump but that was a day ago and since a few part water changes have happened

here’s some picture of the clowns they arent the best but yet again I can’t catch these fish. (Maybe the garbage pail idea was too big)

so it’s been like 36-24 hours of hypo
I read the thread. But I’m worried no one is eating. These last fish all seam to only have minor cases.
What if I move them to my new and cleaned quarantine tank I have setup and running now.

maybe a methane blue or r ick bath before they move?

no one is eating in there .

thanks everyone.

also. Want to mention no signs that I could see before the move or after of any spots on any fish but the clownfish.

Really tough to see anything on the clown in the pics due to the distortion from the container .
I don’t like to use buckets, barrels, etc to hold fish because they don’t allow for lateral viewing so you can’t really tell how the fish are doing, if they are eating, etc.
Hyposalinity does take some time to work, perhaps 5+ days before seeing some improvements.

Update:

well not the best. Only one clownfish left everyone else didnt make it.

however the six line wrasses is still in my main coral tank. I just can’t catch him.

clown is now in the fluval 13.5 gal one. I have switched back over to normal salt levels 1.024

he is eating but still shows some ich .

few questions / thoughts. So this is going to be my new quarantine setup moving forward. I have gone bare bottom in this tank and cleaned it before moving the fish over. However I put 2 big live rocks in from another tank to control and hopefully stop the need for a cycle. Will this just give the ich a home ?

cheers

It could, the resting stage of ich tends sit in crevices or sand.
This clown doesn’t have severe ich, what treatment are you using?
