DrugMonkeyRX. I remember where I got that one but I forgot the name and place. If I can remember, I will see if he can get me more of them. Hard to find. I don't like common fish. :)

Yesterday I did a lot of cooking. I had plenty of clams left over from the Linguine and clams a couple of days ago that I made for good neighbors, so I made a gallon of Manhattan clam chowder.

(yes, many of my meals revolve around clams)

I also made 2 loaves of rosemary, olive oil Italian bread and one of my wife;s favorites, Broccoli rabe with shrimp.

That is another Italian peasant dish and since I am a peasant I eat a lot of it. :p

It took me quite a while to find American shrimp as most of it comes from Asia including India and I can't give that to my family. :)

I would love to get another Janss pipefish but I got that in my last house and here I am on eastern Long Island so fish stores are far and few in between. I used to live near many of them but now I have two to pick from and they don't get the cool stuff I like.

I have only bought one fish on line, a copperband which I still have but I checked and on line places also only carry normal, common stuff and nothing really interesting or if they do, it's like $800.13 plus shipping.

I probably paid $30.00 for my Janss pipefish but that place is 80 miles from me and I don't even remember their name or know if it is still in business.

Lol...you should see prices down here in Australia. Saw a YASHA goby with pistol shrimp pair for 2250, reduced from 2750. But you probably class that common stuff...Lol...

OMG, Can't you just jump in the water there and put one in your pocket? :)

I like Yasha gobies and they are probably $40.00-$50.00 here in New York.

Lots of threads on R2R about reefscaping using all kinds of acronyms most of which I don't haven't clue as to what they mean.
However, why do people seem to think the minimalistic reefscape is good, good for who?

Certainly not for the majority of small fish we keep. I have never seen small fish in such small reefscape on the reef or in videos. There is a season for that. Security which reduces stress which in turn aids health.

Tried the minimalistic reefscape build when setting up.my latest tank, in no time I went out and bought more rock. OK so.you don't see all the fish all of the time but I am sure they are a whole lot better for it.

Atoll my friend. That is true. Minimalist aquascape allows you to see the fish but I know fish, and they hate that.
I think I have between 25-35 fish and I rarely see more than 5 or 6 of them unless I sit and watch for a while.

( i just turned around and saw 11 of them just to make a liar out of me)

I am going to try to remember all the fish I have.

8 or 10 citron gobies
2 mandarins,
2 rainsford gobies
2 six line wrasses (I haven't seen one in a while so I am not sure about this)
1 copperband
1 black thing, I forget what it is
2 different filefish
2 Sunburst anthius
1 Hippo tang
1 purple thing
1 BangaiCardinal
2 Fire clowns.
1 some kind of hawkfish I think
1 Watchman
1 Other red fish
2 Possum Wrasses
1 or 2 bleenies
2 Ruby Red dragonettes.
1 Some kind of silver cardinal

That may be it but it is very hard to tell as my cave system permeates the entire 6' length of the tank.

Well you have no shortage of fish but as most are small like mine then you are good to go Paul. Some people would have you believe you need to use the gallon per inch of fish rule. IMO that's pretty nonsense. More fish less aggression not that I notice much of that in my tank, just the odd chace.

I don't know where that inch per fish came from but it was a big thing in the 60s and 70s with fresh water.
What if you have two skinny ribbon eels like 14" long each? You would need a 1,000 gallon tank.

Almost all my fish are very small fish that I think are interesting. My only "larger" fish are a copperband and hippo tang. And they are not very big. But I really find most tangs and angelfish boring and don't want them although I have had all of them at one time.

I do like "lookdowns" when they are small but they grow the size of a Volkswagon beetle.

I would like some pinecone fish, flashlight fish, batfish and a few others but won't get them because I can't care for them properly and they would die. They also get bigger than I want.

Thats the batfish that crawls around the bottom, not the big flat one with the big fins.

I just found another fish in my tank. Some kind of silver cardinal looking thing.

Went to an LFS event which is on all weekend this afternoon in fact I also.went in the morning as well.but this afternoon I bought a few frags for my tank. However they had lots of really nice stuff inc fish.
One tank contained a pair of banded pipe fish plus another.
Here's a photo I took on my phone.

Which lfs did you go to that had event on?
It wasn't finest aquatics by any chance in widnes just after South Liverpool on begginning Knowsley express way by any chance ? As this weekend they got opening of extension upstairs and new coral trays downstairs and new pond bit outside apparently plus speakers,demo's/ presentations, free drinks and seems like the whole nine yards,I'm going tommorrow as my new favourite lfs after finding out about it 6 months or so ago, reasonable prices and clean looking tanks and seem to have good selection of fish and corals ^_^
If it isn't this lfs I highly recommend a visit if you get chance to ever go

I'm going in couple hours,I'm hoping it wasn't packed yesterday and everything sold out ha ha
hopefully you find something!

Those banded pipefish look beautiful, wonder if someone on here will pick them up.

My copperband bought yesterday at Finest Aquatics, as nice a specimen as I have seen.

He looks great, doesnt seem to have any issues on him. love the look of the frogspawn below him too, I nearly got a yellow frogspawn instead of my deresa clam yesterday, rather happy I didnt though.
