TTM has definitely saved some of my fishes lives. Although my blue tang does still flash here and there. But hasn’t shown any white spots for 2 weeks

So after dealing with ich/velvet (still not sure which) in my tank recently, I'm running fallow and as I was set up for it already the survivors are going through copper treatment right now. I embarked on a ton of research regarding this method as well as the TTM. I'm firmly convinced I'd just like to use my current quarantine tanks as observation/holding tanks going forward and use the TTM instead. @Humblefish any updates or insight on your hybrid TTM? I went over your site in detail but it kind of tapers off recently regarding input from others. Mostly I'm curious about your thoughts with the hybrid method and departing from the 36 hr window to outrun velvet. The rest is pretty straight forward to me regarding the use of H2O2 to help with relief etc and all the theory behind TTM itself. Just wondering if sticking with 4 transfers @36 hours and 2 @72 hours towards the end might be more effective? I'm just getting all the supplies together to support TTM going forward at this time. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Not needed. If you transfer on time the ammonia won't build up.
Thanks, that was what I was thinking. I'm buying some 10g tanks off a local guy today to setup for my TTM. Do I need to fill them completely full or is about 2/3 of the way plenty for the 36 hours the fish will be in there? Would that change for the 72 hour periods?

I filled my 10g about 2/3 the way for smaller fish, they mostly stay in the bottom anyway. If you qt more than 2-3 at a time the extra volume will help. I used 10g and 20gL tanks, the 10's are way easier.

Thanks. I'll only be doing 1 fish at a time and all will be on the smaller size since I only have a 60g cube. The first fish I should be doing the TTM on is a six line wrasse, but my LFS has to order one in first so I'm just trying to get everything prepared for it. I've actually got four 10g tanks (five if it takes a while for the wrasse to show up) that I will be able to use. I plan to have water in tanks A and B the day I pick the fish up and then fill the next tank in line when I make a transfer. With that many tanks ready and waiting, it should be pretty easy to clean one out really good before needing it again during the process.

How can you do the tank transfer method on Puffers if you can't remove them from the water? I'm fighting an ich outbreak in tank, but I have a porcupine puffer and striped dogface puffer.

That’s a tough one. If taking the Puffer out of the water is a no-go, then I assume that TTM is also a no-go. You can’t transfer any water... even a few droplets of water are theoretically bad to transfer. Let’s see what others who know more about Puffers say...

Thank you, I'm very interested to see other's thoughts.

I believe if removed from water they freak-out and inflate (their defense mechanism), which is actually bad for a puffer (stress-wise).

You can take a container - (like a large clear container) - so that you aren't removing them from the water. You can also take a net - net the puffer in the water then put the container under the net - such that the puffer is not out of the water at all. The danger (from what I'm aware) is not the puffer expanding - its expanding in air (out of water).

This process has been updated to handle both velvet, ich and parasites. I recently used it with no ill effects on 3 Dart Fish. I used a scoop (see link) which made the transfer very painless for both me and the fish. See following:

I believe you are totally correct about how to handle a Puffer @MnFish1. (I once owned two small Valentini.) But since with the TTM you are trying to move the fish, and fish only (no water— not even droplets) from one tank to another, isn’t that where the problem comes in with trying to move a submersed Puffer?

Droplets are not an issue in the context of the time sequence otherwise TTM would never work.

Yes I'm worried about having to move the puffers l, while at the same time, not moving any water.
