Can someone help identify this wrasse ? Sorry for the bad pic
Xenojulis margaritacea. Super cool fish that is sporadically available. Care is similar to a leopard wrasse.

Hello everyone! Great thread and pics! Was wondering if any of you out there own a pintail fairy wrasse or a crescent tail wrasse? Can you post some pics of them?

I have a crescent tail but can't really get any good pictures with my phone, these are the best ones I have. Same fish on both pics. He rarely shows the dark fins.

Just got this guy from divers den on Friday. He's been in the acclimation box since and seems incredibly aggressive, so much so that I'm hesitant to release him. I've read they can be somewhat aggressive, but this seems over the top as he trys his hardest to attack any wrasse that swims by. Currently I have three other fairy wrasse in the tank, a C. Brunneus, C. Lunatus and a C. Isosceles. All three get along fine and are for the most part very peaceful with one another, something I'd hate to disrupt, but such is the game you play with fairy wrasse. Tank is a 100g, very lightly stocked, 3 wrasse 1 mandarin and a helfrichi, besides the sailfin. What would you do?

Fwiw, I have an red sea 8 line and rhomboid coming next week from POTO. Maybe I should wait and release all three at once to better my chances?

They can vary individual to individual, but some specimens can be quite aggressive to other fairy and flasher wrasses.

My new Lubbock's in QT. Looking healthy and eating well.
My DT isn't large enough for a bunch of fish, but once I upgrade I plan on keeping many wrasse.

What do you treat the wrasses with. I have some coming in from LA and I don't want to kill them.

Right now I'm just observing. I don't like dosing up a bunch of meds on a healthy fish.

If I notice a problem I'd treat accordingly. For intestinal parasites I'd use metro and focus with his food. For ich or velvet I'd do a FW dip and use copper. For flukes, FW dip and Parazipro...

I agree. When treating, I have had problems doing prazipro with the wrasses, so I was wondering how people were doing it. Thanks for the info.

I use prazi and copper. Wrasses are very good at covering up symptoms of disease and parasites, so may not show much during observation, but could still be afflicted by something that they can bring into dt that will manifest more clearly later.
