More interested in what wrasses would harm Nudibranchs used to treat aptasia
IMHO, any wrasse with the reputation for being a “Pest eater”. Leopards, Fairies, Flashers, Pencils, Gold Nuggets, and wrasses from the genus Wetmorella shouldn’t go after nudibranchs.

So the ones to avoid would be the more non-reefsafe like red coris, bird and maybe the more aggressive reefsafe like 6-line and mystery.

I was thinking the same thing. Any of the cirrhilabrus or Vivien?

I would say any sand sleepers can go after Nudi’s. For me some do some don’t. If Nudi’s are hidden they tend not to kill them. Also my wrasse would bite them in half but hated how they tasted. Also think it’s how much live food in the tank and how heavy you feed

Yes, that’s what I would do personally.

Been treating ich in my display. I slacked and it got me. Wrasse haven’t acted right since but tangs look ok. I’m treating with H202 being it’s easier on them. Not sure if Hemi is bummed because of treatment or the flame. Flame bite of Hemi’s tail filaments and I’m bummed more then Hemi.
here is the wrassehole and Hemi. Boy got huge fins

That attenuatus is a beauty! I hope I come across one that gets mislabelled haha.
Definitely possible. They get collected with McCoskers occasionally.

That’s interesting, I’m assuming that’s more common if they’re brought in as a female or transitional male.

Yes. You also have to be careful buying a female attenuatus because female C. africanus are mistakenly labeled as female attenuatus.

I have a Dusky Wrasse quarantining. So, after I already committed to him... Can anyone tell me how he might get along with my 4" Melanurus, a 3" Lubbock's Wrasse, and a 4" Candy Striped Hogfish in my 90 gallon reef?

The hog may not enjoy a 4th wrasse as they’re a slightly more boisterous species.
The others most likely will accept the Dusky.

Thanks. The Hogfish and Wrasses mostly ignore each other right now. The Melanurus tries to bully him every once in a while but it is short lived and ends of in one of this "Yea, I'm just swimming close to you" stand offs.

Adding any new wrasses to an already established hierarchy can be risky unless they’re going to be a submissive species IME. The dusky’s are a 50/50 on if you get a submissive specimen or not.

Thanks. I hear ya. The Dusky is just a little bigger than the the Melanurus and the Hogfish. I'm hoping that helps them get along well enough while reestablishing the hierarchy. They are all well fed, fat, & happy. I'm hoping that helps.

Picked up wrasse #2 today. Hooded (female) did a little chasing and pecking but stopped after 10 min. They are identical

his tail is a little picked at but I’m sure will recover fine now that he’s outta the lfs.

already love the colors

feeding really does help. any new introduction (Wrasse or not) I feed my tank before so that it minimalizes aggression but also if the newbie wants to eat it shows me how much i need to feed and if i need to increase that or not.

I think I finally stumbled across my dream wrasse. Halichoeres garnoti, they look stunning even as adults. It seems I have a liking for the larger Halichoeres that aren’t quite so common in tanks.
Here’s two photos I took of the juvenile I almost came home with.
