I'd definitely use an acclimation box and see what type of reaction you get.

What kind of wrasse is this? Beautiful fish!
That is a male Black Leopard, M. negrosensis.

how would a blue throat added to a tank with a splendid do? (120 gallon)
Blue Throat is an aggressive wrasse. He needs a large tank, with lots of wrasse or else he will harasses other single or two fairy wrasse to death.
He is a great wrasse in large tank with many wrasses like mine.

Really? I never seen that blue color i though they were more a gold green, either way fantastic leopard, how old is he?

Since I lost a few I was going to refuel my stocking list, I was looking at blue throats but wondered how aggressive they were, especially since they are newish in the hobby trade, how big of a tank are we talking ?

I was going to get another rhomboid, flame, and another fairy TBH (I have lineatus, Ruby Head and pintail)

My tank is a 320 with ?15+ wrasses. I initially had him in a 65 with a pair of Flame angels damsels and PBT. Mature Flame Angel Male are no push over. This wrasse tangle with the Flame Angel all the time. He flares at the flame and the PBT.
In my 320 he flashes all the time and give occasional short chase. No significant problem due to the large number of wrasses. He is a beauty but to aggressive for small tank. I estimate that he need at least 5-7 wrasse minimal to disburse his aggressiveness.

So both my Isoceles and Exquisitus are doing great in the DT, and it appears the pintail is gaining quite a vibrant reddish/deep pinkish spot / blotchy hue below its dorsal fin. Am I to assume this is just a further colour maturation from the transitioning? It's looking better every week.

Not sure if it helps but my pintail also has a 3/16-1/4" blotch on his fins right under the rear of the doral fin. It looks strange and is only on one side, I dont recall if my previous ones had this also or not?

Yep, that's normal coloration (although it's always been symmetrical on the fish I've seen) for an isoscoles. It sometimes seems to be more or less visible depending on the fish's mood.

My previous Isoceles did not make it. A friend GAVE me this one. He is doing great. I think he is just changing instead of full male. Very beautiful. Hope he will do well in my tank

Good afternoon everyone. My LFS has an orange axil wrasse
(Stethojulis bandanensis). Does anyone have any experience with this wrasse? I have a 270 gallon, h. Leucoxanthus, h. Chrysalis, h. Melanarus, Macropharyngodon bipartitus, Macropharyngodon meleagris.
Thanks in advance.

if you search on here for the genus there's several posts by eatbreakfast and evolved saying that genus is borderline impossible to keep in home aquariums

Thank you. What's the reason behind their poor captivity record? He was beautiful but I always try to research an animal before I bring them home. I want to make sure I can provide them the best life. So I will pass on this beauty sadly. I would like to know why they don't do well though. I do wish the animals that don't do well in captivity were left in the ocean.

shrug

this is what evolved responded to someone:

The whole genus fairs the same. It's simply very difficult to provide enough food.

So I have had a supermale lineatus wrasse in my DT for about 3 weeks. I have a supermale golden rhomboid that I had in QT for 2 weeks and then I had in an acclimation box for 1 week. The lineatus didn't show any interest when the acclimation box was in the DT but as soon as I let the golden rhomboid out, the lineatus started chasing him around. Nothing too crazy, at least not during the 1 hour it was before lights went out.

They are around the same size, if anything the golden rhomboid may be bigger. Should I just keep an eye on this or is this asking for a problem? I thought it would be fine as it is in a 180g SPS dominant tank with a lot of other wrasses.

Hi all, I've been slowly stocking my 425xl heavily toward wrasses. Currently I have a transitioning Malanurus, a yellow wrasse, Red Fin Fairy, and a Choate in quarantine.
I'd really like to add a flame and finally a flasher or two if possible (different types).

In terms of Flasher's I'm partial to the Blue Flasher and the Diamond Tail Flasher.

Thus far all my fish are getting along just fine without aggression- Going on 3 months. Basically the three wrasses in there thus far ignore each other. The only other inhabitants are a couple small clowns, a Tomini Tang, Black Cap Basslet, and 2 fire fish.

Thoughts?

Thanks for any insights!

Keep an eye on them. A little chasing is to be expected. If the rhomboid is constantly hiding or not eating well you will have to intervene. In a tank as big as yours I bet it will be ok but you never know how individuals are going to act.
