These are what I fished out of my sump. Our white spotted hermit outgrew them all

Home after a weekend at the mans house. No cyano!!!!
Going to keep up with the bacteria as planned. But now I am wanting to know if I should look into dosing phyto? I have never in the past, at least not on any kind of regular schedule. Thoughts? I was thinking the phyto would help feed the bacteria and help with continued coral growth.

Good news!!!!
Im not a bee expert, so at the risk of this being a really dumb question...is it normal for there to be dead ones on the ground like that? At least one hive survived?

Never a dumb question!!! Thats actually a great question. It's kindof a long answer so the tldr is yes thats normal and a really good sign!
The long version.....
The queen stops/ slows way down laying eggs at the start of winter. So the go into winter with what they have. So the hive dies off. The hope is that too many don't die and can keep the hive alive. The ones that die will be cleaned out in the spring. The dead bees on the ground tell me the hive is still strong enough to clean itself out. One hive had nothing out front and the other had some but not alot. Each hive tells me something different. They still have a month to go before the maple starts to bloom. This time of year is actually the toughest for them. Hopefully they still have enough honey to get them through till Maple. We have a cold snap coming up so fingers crossed.

Thanks so much for asking I like sharing cool stuff about them.

We had bees in our bird feeder all day yesterday. I read that there is nutrition for them in the powder from the seed that helps hold them over until they can start to gather pollen when the plants come back to life. I suppose they've probably always done this but I didn't remember seeing it before.
