I have been lurking around here for the last few months and have posted a little. I thought it was time that I add my tanks to the member section. A little background on me: I was heave into freshwater for 10 years, but the loss of my 2 favorite Discus drove me away from tanks back in 2001. After that I tried my hand with koi via a 5000g koi pond. I really enjoyed it for about 2 years, but then was transferred from California to Texas. I couldn't really take the pond with me, so no more Koi for me. Once in Texas, I knew that my next jump back into the hobby would be salt, but it took me about 7 years before I actually did it. I don't do much halfway, so as you will see I have jumped in deep this year.

Here is what I have so far:
  • 110g custom in wall FOWLR (Documented in Post 2)
  • 20g Clown/anemone tank (Documented in Post 3)
  • 30g Rimless LPS dominant tank (JBJ RL30, Documented in post 4)
  • (Post 5 reserved for future use)
  • 26g Bowfront for Fish QT
  • Biocube14 for invert QT

Thanks... I can't seem to finish one before I start thinking about what I will do next! LOL

really digging the rock work.

Thanks! Being that the tank is so narrow, it was very difficult to get the look I was going for. I ended up taking sheets of acrylic, drilling/tapping holes in them, and then screwing 3/8" threaded nylon rods in them. I then cut the bottoms of the rocks flat and drilled holes in them for the rods to go in. It was a lot of prep work, but it allowed me to just slip the rocks on to the rods so they stood up and kept from touching the glass.

Thanks... At some point I need to get someone over here that is good at photography to get a good FT shot. I have multiple issues getting pictures... (1) The tank is 8 feet long, and the walls of the house prevent me from getting far enough back to get a straight on full shot unless I stand outside. (2) The tank is viewable from both sides, and there are windows on the opposite walls of both rooms. This means that any daytime shot has the bright window blinds messing up the shot. (3) I have no understanding of how to take good photos which discourages me from buying a decent camera.

Right now there is the Two-Spot Bristletooth tang in there by itself. As soon as the clowns are out of QT, I will be getting a butterfly... A lemon if I can find one locally, but more likely a raccoon. After that, Flame Angel, Yellow Tang, Snowflake Eel, Indian Black Trigger, and a Humu Trigger.

The dream is that a year from now it will look like a miniature version of your tank. ;)

The clowns moved in to their 20g home a few days ago and seem to like it.

clowns look happy. :)
I think so... they have grown a noticeable amount in the 5 weeks since I picked them up, but are still tiny little things. The pictures are deceiving but you can get a better understanding of their size when you look at the silicon tank edge in the second picture. I think one is about an inch and one a hair under an inch.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
