Hi, my tank is 3 month old. I have bought a toadstool coral 1 month ago. Initially it was not opening at all. I have moved its place 2 times to higher lights and flow area, I can say it’s opening a little bit now. But definitely not happy, fully opened. When I bought it it was more fat, not as if it is shrinking. 2 day ago I have seen few lesions in the stock and umbrella. I am new to hobby, still learning. Parameters are ok. Initially magnesium was high (1450ppm, now 1350ppm). Just building up some nitrate like 5 ppm. Other corals (zoa) are good. I want to know is that toad stool is dying? Do I need to remove it? Attached few pictures for reference.

They like to have good amount of flow, they need it to help shed and help them stand up straight. They can adapt to different lighting, but IME they do better in higher lighting, but it needs flow more importantly than light.

EDIT: They are also a moody type of coral and can slouch like that for a week or longer, sometimes you have to wait it out. But they don't like to be moved, so put it somewhere and give a month or so to see how it reacts.

Neighboring corals or the toadstool itself could have produced defensive chemicals...either way: this, reportedly could be a stressor to the toadstool. I suggest activated carbon filtration to help with that possibility. https://www.mantasystems.net/a/blog...issue: Torn or ragged,Local Fish Stores (LFS)

The fact that you have polyp extension is a good sign. When it starts to wither and no polyp extension is when I would be worried. Give it time! You can also dose a little iodine if you’re concerned.
