So about 4 weeks ago i got my first torch. Nothing special but i got a great price and couldn't resist. The first couple days it stayed tight never really opening all the way. Then on the third day it was wide open swaying with the current and it looked great. About 4 days ago i noticed it was only partially open about a third of it tentacles fully extended but the rest only partially out. I figured no big deal, my water parameters are spot on. Then i took a sample to my LFS and she did a red sea test (i use API) and it read a small spike of ammonia. I promptly did a water change and tested again the next day. Other than a little nitrates higher than usual all other parameters where back to normal. I found a dead turbo which I'm assuming caused my little spike and removed it also. The torch still seems to be bothered. It won't fully open and I'm stumped. I have two other euphylia, both hammers and they haven't skipped a beat. My other corals look great, fully open, bright colors, and very healthy. Any suggestions on what could be happening? any help is appreciated.

Yeah I had this kinda thing as well its sometihng that just happens. Maintain good water quality, test often, and it will stop eventually. Mines doing great now. Happy reefing

Torches are very sensitive to changes in parameters. So even if a single test is good, if there was a spike previously it can still be recovering. Just be patient, and it should come back.
