I want to observe my fish after it has been kept in copper for 14 days.
Should I transfer him to a freshly set up QT tank? Or. Should I run carbon in the copper QT he is currently in?
I am conserned if he stays in the copper tank (after running carbon) that the ich/velvet will reappear.
Thoughts? info? suggestions? Do's and dont's??

Should be in the therapeutic level of copper for 30 full days. Then do a full water change and use new carbon and cuprisorb and observe for another 30.

The directions on the bottle of Cupramine says 14 days. The fish is an Achillies Tang. "Some" say that the shorter amount of time for tangs in copper the better. I am not saying you are wrong by any means. I have the level at .5
Why would I need to keep him at this level 14 days longer than recommended by the manuf.?

If the ich did appear after running carbon in the qt then the problem would be not enough time in copper(not that this will happen).

Look in the fish disease and treatment section at @Humblefish threads on treating with copper. He has alot of experience with methods and what works best.

The directions have said that for years and been wrong for years. 30 days, then run cuprasorb and observe for another 30 days. I also treat with Prazi during the observation period(mine lasts 6 weeks since I use TTM for Ich treatment)

You are correct with your concern of subtherapeutic doses of copper masking Ich.

For an Achilles tang I would recommend more than 30 days if anything, definitely not less. I've quarantined probably a dozen Achilles tangs in copper and probably over 100 tangs in total over the years.

@Humblefish is the resident fish Doctor, he can confirm my suggestion. Cuprisorb is also in my opinion not a very reliable or effective copper medication as I've used it on more than half of my fish with mixed results.

If your only using copper for the 14 days be absolutely sure the copper levels stay at therapeutic levels the ENTIRE 14 days, then transfer to a clean, sterile QT.
