He got a little too friendly with his friends, as in he tried to have an old friend for dinner, friendly.
Oh no! Mine doesn't seem to have that problem. I did have a goby disappear but I have not hard evidence to prove him guilty . My mandren lives in the same rock most of the time, so he can't be too bad.

Aku is perfectly behaved in the 90, all of the fish in there are well out of eating size tho. Blaze and Ember are extra value meal sized.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been elbow deep in the front end of my truck. Water pump decided to go out on me after almost 200,000 miles. Finally getting around to fixing it.
Anyway, how's the tank doing? Well, this nano just about runs itself. Everything is doing great! There was a bad storm that passed thru yesterday. Most of the county was out of power for about 2 hours. No problems here, it was only in the low 80s after the storm and the house never got over 75°.
The mangroves are starting to grow tiny roots, and I moved them into the display and put the floss back in the top of my media basket. Once they grow out I'll plant them and let them become part of the scape in the tank. They are attached to the overflow with metal free zip ties for now, and get spritzed with RODI daily. The mangrove tree's way of surviving in salt water is to excrete the salt they absorb out thru their leaves. In nature, rain and the dew in the morning washes this salt off, but as it does not rain in my living room I do this with a spray bottle. This has to be done daily, if you've ever visited south Florida, you'll know that just about every afternoon there is a thunderstorm. Mine do not have leaves, but I rinse them off anyway just to get in the habit and I think I have seen a little build up on the growth tips once or twice.
We lost two sexy shrimp for sure, one never made it thru acclimation and the other I found sucked up to one of the powerheads a few days ago. The second one made a very nice snack for my leopard wrasse over in the 90, I'm not sure who got the first one... I haven't been able to see more than four at a time, so we might have lost three. The remaining four look fine tho and wiggle their butts all day.
The porcelain crabs have taken up residence on and under the rock flowers. This upset the anemones at first, but they have learned to ignore the crabs now.
The new wrasse has adjusted nicely. He is still very timid, but he is eating well and is active most of the day.
I finally saw the pistol shrimp. No luck on the goby, I'm pretty sure he did not make it. The shrimp however has an elaborate tunnel dug under the large rock on the bottom shelf, and I did see he's got two small claws that have grown back. He came out last night to the very entrance of one of his holes when I fed the tank. Couldn't get a good picture because of the angle, but here's my best attempt.

Yea man they are super small. I think it's a page back I got a pic of one hanging on my pinky finger. They are only about 1/4 long, or fit thru the overflow size...

He stopped at the filter floss this time. I'm not sure how he got past last time unless the media basket was shifted back and water was bypassing. Putting that black sponge stuff would serve the same purpose as the filter floss. The overflow guards from Innovative Marine work well. They aren't expensive either.
