Unidentified LPS melting

this was sold to me as part of a secondhand system w “mushrooms”. I can’t research it’s needs because o don’t believe it to be a mushroom. HELP!!! 1 head has melted. The little one on top. What is this?!?

Ok. Now we’re getting somewhere. I can research it’s needs. But as I do, any black and white answer to why is it melting? I fed them all reef roids the other day and they swelled up immediately after. Like they absorbed it and grew? But they some heads vomitted. Is that a sign of overfeedingn?

What about parameters? Are they finicky? Or is it just being burned? I’m trying to figure out why 1 head has melted away and if this means the whole colony (was 3 heads, now 2) is doomed

errr, when you say "high" you mean "moderate" right?
IME, unless water is out of whack, the common reason for rapid deterioration of acans is being picked at by something..

I got this tank less than a week ago and just tested parameters. I did a water change a few days ago.

KH 240
PH 8.5
NO2 0.5
NO3 20
Salinity 0.026
Temp: 26.8

20g
1 clownfish (will get her a mate)
1 Engineer goby (I know the tank is too small for him. He’s going into my 110g once done w qt)

Just realized that my test kit is expired!!! Ahhhhh now what?!?

Light is the same the previous owner had using same cycle so that shouldn’t be it
