Hey guys! My first tank ever, a 15 gallon, is almost done cycling! I am extremely excited. I was planning on starting out with clown fish. But it would be awesome to have some unique strange. I want it to be compatible with other fish, because I want more than one kind of fish in the tank. Also it needs to fit in my small 15 gallon tank. Also it needs to be hardy, its my first tank after all. If any of you more experienced nano lovers could give me some suggestions that would be great!

Thanks,

Luka

They are cool, as well as expensive haha.
true, IMO they are best for picos, as they would be the only fish. If you have a certain fish that's meant to be a showpiece, I feel like it's okay to dish out a lot on it.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the help! Saw some cool fish, still will need some more thought tho. What do you guys think about a wart skin frog fish? And can other fish be the in same tank as them?

they can not go with other fish. they eat other fish whole, in one gulp. every angler/lion/scorpion fish eats that way. plus, some angler species get up to 6", which is too large for your tank.

have you thought about invertebrates? they're a lot more of a reasonable size to fit in a nano rather than condemning multiple fish to a 15gal. variety of invertebrates is endless as well.

I had a 14 g bio-cube. I had a fire fish, yellow clown goby, and 1 clown. I also had a fire shrimp, a strawberry crab (which is just like the emerald crab only red), some sexy shrimp with a mini-carpet anemone that they hosted, and the usual hermits and snails. I did want a pom-pom crab but never got around to it. I agree, the harlequins are cool but too much trouble.

What is the blue shrimp an the crabs with the pointy things across their body in the pics?

1 or 2 Helfrichi fire fish would be very unique. I don't think you should have a clown in there with the fire fish :)

I was going to say blue neon gobies are small and cool, but the helfrichi are not going to like them and they might fight to death if you have them all in a small tank like that.

I will say that the fire fish hid most of the time. The yellow clown goby, on the other hand, seemed to love the clown fish. I think he thought he was a clown fish.

I have tried 3 different types of fire fish and the tank size/mate might play a factor that cause them to hide more as they are a bit more shy than other fish. They are always out when the lights are on in my tanks

wait- harlequins are too much work to feed every 2weeks or so yet most of us feed our fish daily? lol.

I'm not sure which ones you're referring to, can you repost/quote them?
