Found 1 of these in a ball of chaeto. I can't seem to find a positive id. Just wanted to see if it is reef safe or not. Is it some sort of anemone or worm? This is a photo i found on a Google search. 1 site says it could be a sea cucumber, another site says it could be a sea anemone.
This is a link to where i found this photo... http://www.wetwebmedia.com/WormID18.htm

Mine is the same thing. Almost clear. He looks a little darker when he shrinks up.
I'm going to try and get a picture of him today. Got him in a cup with a rock and chaeto.

Excuse my camera skills. I tried my best. If you look closely at the rock you can see the tentacles. Almost looks like a feather duster. And the last picture is him retreating back to chaeto.

Medusa worm would be my guess.
Edit: to be more clear after I did a quick Google it is a cucumber from the genus Synaptula. I guess some ppl put all cucumbers under the term medusa worm. Common name strikes again.

That depends on if you have a section that is free of pumps ect. Like all cucumbers they can release a toxin if hurt or killed. These guys are reef safe other than that issue. In large tanks that run carbon or other purification media they can die with no issues.
