So my smoker rusted out a year ago and I have been wanting to go bigger and more permanent. This is my old one it was awsome but I must move on 20181020_074530.jpg
Ive been talking for a year about this smokehouse/outdoor oven. Well I finally started last month. 20201114_120023.jpg 20201113_142337.jpg
So I got the slab poured and the next few weekends were rained out. I was off the week between Christmas and new year's 20201230_082739.jpg 20201230_113125.jpg 20201230_151819.jpg
After getting the structure up I'm lining the inside with fireplace brick. 20210102_165558.jpg 20210102_165604.jpg
So thIs is where it stands now and unfortunately back to work Monday so it will take a while to finish 20210102_165841.jpg
I will keep updated as it progresses . Any questions or comments love to hear you thanks for looking. Oh yeah this is my first go around with block and brick and after a week of work I learned I should have worn gloves. Finger tips are raw.

Very nice. Can’t wait to see the rest! I’ve been wanting to build an outdoor kitchen/tiki bar.

Not yet...I will be pouring concrete for both roofs one on each side so I'm gathering supplies to make forms so I can pour concrete trying to find some stuff instead of buying it old plywood old rebar. This weekend I got sucked into other projects but next weekend is a go so I will post up hopefully with some progress soon thanks for looking

So I made some forms added some rebar and poured the ceiling of the Firebox. I put fire bricks down before I poured the concrete. Hopefully they will be the ceiling when I take the forms down. 20210123_163913.jpg
I won't take the forms off till monday so I update then. I did check out some grill pipe dampers so I hope the right side will ne next weekend.

This is awesome. But I have a question. What mortar are you using with the fire brick? Also when you poured the top what concrete did you use? I want to build a pizza oven and have a ton of fire brick but the notary has me confused.

Look into "refractory mortar", it resists the thermal expansion/contraction and moisture degradation that occurs with standard Portland mortar in a high heat setting.

So from This picture You can see Brick stack tightly together Those are actual fire bricks Then I poured two and a half inch of concrete On top of that So the bricks are actually the ceiling Inside the fire box Also The large side I Will have a propane Burner To regulate Heat So I won't have to Build an extremely large fire Just enough to send smoke and flavor.

Okay well my welder showed up finally(me). I got the rack fabricated still needs feet and a couple anchors. Building the shelves will be next. I also picked up materials for the outside I'm doing a ledgestone should be pretty easy. I'll do an update as soon as I finish more stuff. 20210317_160838.jpg 20210317_160938.jpg
