Whatsup guys,
I have an aqueon 29gal standard reef, been up for 6-8weeks. I have mixed reef and also two clown fish with a couple of snails and hermits. My question lies with flow. I have a fluval 370 canister with the flow fully open and also 2 hygger mini DC wave makers(1600gph max for each) The wave makers are both at 40% power which makes them 400gph each. The one opposite the return is on the back wall and the other is opposite that one on the side wall pushing water towards the filter output. My question is even at 40% power do you think this is too much flow for fish or inverts? The corals seem to be fine so when I add other fish is my concern. I attached a video, thanks!

Thanks, I was concerned because the clowns looked like they were struggling to swim I didn’t want to exhaust them. But then they stop and just float anyway

I would recommend 2 of the bigger hygger 2600 on at least 60%. You should not have to worry about flow with the 1600gph .

So I have 2 of the 1600’s… both of them on 60% which would be 960gph each shouldn’t be a problem in an aqueon 29?

Maybe to little flow in the middle. They flow out at a really wide cone. But, def not too much flow.

I’m the middle as I’m with the setup I have now with back wall and side? Or you mean the middle of the cone pattern they push

I mean they push around 10 inches of effective flow and the tank is 30 inches long.

Also, if I wanted to add a skimmer to help with the future bio load, I’m addition to the fluval 370 I have, what would be a good option for a hang on external protein skimmer?

I had a skimmer on my past 29 gallon. I also did a hang on the back breeder box turned into a refugium. I barely ran the skimmer.
