Doesn’t matter, once a private seller gets it, he/she can sell it for whatever they want.

Msrp is only for stores. We as consumers are allowed to sell the product for any amount we find to be fair .
Definitely! LOL..must have sold a few before people got mad!
...kidding!
r2r is also about not being a _____. In their opinion, gouging on their site was viewed as that. It isn't like you cannot sell them on FB or ebay.Msrp have nothing to do with private sales.
That’s what I am saying.
people were selling Tesla’s for a huge markup because you couldn’t get them from Tesla. If you had the $$$ and someone wanted to sell you a Tesla for more than MSRP why should that be regulated
If people didnt buy them at these huge marked up prices then people would stop grabbing up stock to do this.
I can easily sell the one in my stand and double my money lolI can easily get one from my lfs and resell at a ridiculous profile but I don’t!
What is a paid member? I don’t receive any bonuses. How do I get those?!? LOLno I have never sold anything on this site.
And I never buy anything from reef2reef.
I also don’t agree with a lot of the forums
Stands so I am not a paid member.
Bingo!correct, just not on this forum.

I believe in the free markets too. However, situations like this create a false shortages because you have these "marketeers" buying up the stock to essentially rip people off. I refuse to pay anyone like this more money so I just wait. As far as R2R is concerned they are doing their part to stop this false shortage. Dont get me wrong there would still be a shortage but it wouldnt be as bad.I don’t understand why this is a problem. If someone is willing to pay a premium for a product why regulate that. That’s how free markets work. Why is the trident special?
every day I see people pay a load of money for corals. Why doesn’t reef2reef
Regulate that? I am a strong believer in free markets and thing should sell for whatever someone is willing to pay.
You’re not listening. I said the price of the trident is regulated because there’s a set msrp. Corals aren’t regulated because there isn’t a set msrp.
Actually, any retailer could jack the price of the Trident up if they wanted to, the Trident is only protected by MAP (Minimum Advertised Pricing). MSRP (Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price) is only a suggestion and not a requirement. MAP is there to stop retailers from undercutting one another. This keeps the profit margins stable and really only benefit the manufacturer
This is actually in keeping with our No Flipping policy. We do not allow people to buy up corals at a sale and mark them up to resell here. This can be hard to enforce, but we do run across it from time to time. We have even had to remove sales threads from people who were advertising corals from an online vendor to sell at a higher price without intending to ever take possession of those corals.I get that and understand but why the trident ? Why not have these same policy for people charging $xxxx for a torch ?
why only this product ?
So...I seem to recall that Neptune said that they would not support aftermarket or third party sells. Not sure if that is still the case or how they would know, but that is what was posted a while back. Having said that Tridents are in stock and a few just this past week at both BRS and Marine Depot. Best thing to do is post in the Trident in stock thread - forget the exact name - but people post in there all the time when they find them and/or the 6 month reagent supply. You will get one shortly once people know you are on the lookout.
More importantly keep this in mind that this not just a Neptune / Trident issue. GHL is asking people to put a 50% deposit and other products for which I won't mention a name required 100% paid in full. I think Neptune is doing the right thing honestly and they have been up front and honest from the get go why it takes longer per say compared to just ordering the manufacture to crank up another 1,000 return pumps. Not the same.
Lastly I'll leave you with this little gem. I've been shopping around for a Ford GT500. I can spec out the build at a little over 105. However, local dealers to include cross state line are adding 45K ADM to the price of the car. Found one in California and the dealer was asking 169K for the car and it didn't even include any of the track packages...
Doesn't matter what hobby we are in folks. Business will mark up in the initial round and others will find a way to buy early or skirt rules and mark up/ ebay and it will last a year or two. People will pay. People have more money be it smarter, wiser, working harder, born into it, or just blind luck. It is what it is and always will be. But having said that - let us know you are looking and people here will be on the look out. That is honestly how a few of us got ours.
Hang in there.
Edit: Maybe consider changing the title if you can. Leads one to believe Neptune / Trident is the cause of the problem and that isn't the case. At least how I read it.
