these things are all over the back of the tank...have been for a few weeks. generally they are grouped together in certain spots, but every once in a while i'll find one on the front/side glass, as this one is.

i'm guessing they are an egg sack of some type, as they appear to "empty" themselves of the hard white stuff in what appears to be a sack. snail eggs?

pods included for size reference...

Looks like a common type of glass sponge (Class Hexactinellida) they have a skeleton that consists of fragile, glass-like spicules that are made of silica. Or maybe something else?

I do not have a 'for-sure' answer for you, but I think they look like some form sponge also.

Well, since we are guessing, how about a tunicate?

Is it soft like a sponge does it come right off if you take a razor to it?

not sure either, I had some of these in my refugium, they would appear on and off for several months, then I havn't seen any in quite some time, did not appear to be anything harmful

it looks like some sort of snail eggs, i dont think its anything harmfull to your tank, unless you have to many snails already. becarful snails can multipy fast. you start with 10 wondering if that is enough and next thing you know your trying to get some of them out of your tank

Those are narcarrius snail eggs.

Dennis

thank you!

that was my guess...as i correlated first seeing their appearance to shortly after adding the nassarius snails. only thing i could think of.

are you 100% positive on the id then? any experience with them actually hatching and propagating the babies?

thanks!

My nerite snails leave the same egg sacks all over my small tank. Kinda annoying....

I have them as well in my tank, I just wrote them off as snail eggs. Looks like you have a nice population on pods in there too!
