So i just got this shelfing sps and was trying to secure it to a rock and a piece of it broke off. What should i do with the broken piece and/or actual frag? Is it a goner?

The Mamma will be fine. You can attach the broken piece somewhere else if you want. Be cautious though. My monti cap grows like crazy, and it will shadow anything under it.

The only thing under it is a mushroom thats movable if i need to

This is a great time to ask the monti god's a question. I wonder what would happen if you glued it on top of the attached piece. Then as you trim it you add the trimmings to where you want it to help shape it how you want. Possible? Anyone tried it?
